Mariners available
Carl Weil at Wilderness Medicine Outfitters (a Spyderco dealer) recently told me he found an original stainless steel Mariner and two Mini-Mariners in some of his old stock. These are discontinued models, and he does not know what is fair to charge for them. Any of you collectors out there have an i...

I have been to Mike Janich's Level 1 and Level 2 classes, and would highly recommend them. Mike and Matt are both excellent teachers, and the class is well thought out and presented. I have not been to one of Bram Frank's seminars, but I hope to go to the one in April. It will all depend on Spyderco...

Native Drones
There was some talk in another thread about the possibility of producing a native drone. Is such a thing in the works? If so, is there any planned introduction date?

Collector's Club Guntings
It seems as though from reading other threads that SFO has sold out the first run of Guntings and is about to recieve a second run for sale. What happened to the collector club issue? I thought it was supposed to be the first 200 pieces. I also heard that the club issue was to be a set; one live kni...

One of the interesting things about this forum is how many times I read things other people have written, and see exactly what I've been thinking. I couldn't agree more with Carlos' assesment of Kraton. I have also found volcano grip FRN to be very practical even if it is somewhat industrial looking...

I'm not sure what people think is wrong with steel as a blade or liner material. It has served us all admirably for many years, and continues to evolve like no other metal I know. As far as handle materials go I love the look of stainless and alumnium, but I agree with Joe. They look like **** after...

I find this discussion very interesting. I am writing this opinon based strictly on user experience and not on rigorous scientific testing, however I have a very hard time believing that a knife that chips on a toilet paper roll has the same steel as the 440v models I have been using for the last tw...

I haven't looked at this scientificly, but from experience some of my Spyderco's are much nicer to carry than others. The Military, Native, and the Centofante's are so comfortable that it is easy to forget that they are there. The Wegner(large)is also very comfortable, but a little more noticeable. ...

Sal, A sheath would be particularly nice for very active situations like climbing, canyoneering, biking, and water sports. To date I have lost two Spydercos by relying on the clip while trail running. Keeping your knife in your pack makes it safe, but very inconvinent. For hard outdoor use I would l...
