Re: Can anybody else relate?

It's all a farce, edge geometry, heat treat, and sharpening skill are far more important than s30v, 440c, or super duper vanadium & tungsten tool steel 2.0

Re: Is this a fake please help

I think if people are overly cautious and worried about fakes, they'd save so much anxiety by just buying from an authorized Spyderco dealer. Hard to tell if yours is a fake from the pics. https://www.spyderco.com/resources/dealer-locator/ That's the thing, it was bought second hand from knife swap...

I'd buy one, action and fit/finish on my para 3 is great. I'd love a PM2 that weighs under 3 oz.

Re: S30v

S30V is perfectly fine.

A lot of people are okay with high end $500 knives made with s35vn, but in practical use I can't even tell the difference between s35vn and s30v. They both take a screaming sharp edge and stay sharp for a while.

Re: The threesome fight!

I was a huge fan of the 0562CF but I find myself preferring the 0393. It feels less bulky, even being only 1/2 oz lighter. 0393 and Domino are my two favorite flippers.

Re: Is This a Trademark Violation?

On page 44 of the 2019 Spyderco Product Guide, the name Dragonfly has a ™ trademark symbol after it so one assumes that Artisan Cutlery use is a trademark violation. Yeah but there's a lot of nuance to trademark law. I don't think it was Artisan's intent to confuse anyone, and it's pretty doubtful ...

Re: Would you buy a Golden, CO USA EARTH Made Tenacious Lightweight?

Tbh, I'm not sure. It could be one of the most boring knives ever, or it could end up being pretty cool like the Para 3 LW. I suppose I'd have to see on in person first.

Re: I like the Para 3 LW...but...

I'm liking the Para 3 LW so far. There's a bit of lock stick compared to my g10 version, but not too bad. The bd1n steel seems pretty good so far. I stropped the factory edge with .5 micron diamond and it's now hair splitting sharp :)

Re: Ball Bearing lock issues?

That's one of the strengths of the ball bearing lock, it's very robust. It operates similar to an axis lock, but it doesn't have the omega springs that can fatigue and snap over time.

Re: Don't get cut with a ffg blade

Dumbest knife thing I ever did was at work, my pm2 slipped out of my hand while closing it and instinctively I grabbed for it before it had a chance to hit the concrete floor. It stabbed my palm on my left hand. Took a while to get that one to stop bleeding, luckily I didn't hit any tendons or anyth...

Re: What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"

I like the Domino and Southard. Flippers aren't really Spyderco's forte but the Domino and Southard are really nice. Maybe not hidden gems so much, but they definitely don't have the recognition of the all time favorites like the PM2 or Delica.

It only makes sense, it's basically a Paramilitary 2, except with a 3" blade. I remember so many people being chastised for calling it a "PM3" on the Spyderco FB group, lol

Re: Favourite method to open PM2?

Usually a thumb flick, but I also do a sort of 'modified spydie drop' where I pinch the hole with my thumb, index and middle finger and squeeze until the detent pops free and it falls open from the weight of the handle.

Re: Spyderco Para 3 LW Drop

What are the two extra holes around the pivot on the blade for? Maybe it has something to do with that extra metal piece that goes around the pivot and stop pin. I guess that means we can't swap blades between the g10 and frn models... :( Iirc, they are there to tell the different blade steels apar...

Re: Favorite Steels

204P is one of my favorites, sharpens easily and takes a nice polish. 20CV is about the same, Pepsi vs. Coke I guess. After that I'd go with something like S35VN, I find it's pretty similar to 204P and 20CV in practice. As far as semi or non-stainless I'd take Rex 45 or M4 anyday of the week. Good e...
