Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
Not sure if the orange is the same as on the HAP40 models but I have been waiting for someone to show an orange to something other than black so I can maybe copy what they did.

Count me in n for an XL unlike some I have no issue with scaling an existing design in either direction.

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
Decided to freshen up the blade. Also decided to use the Michael Christie method going spine to blade free hand sharpening instead of different angles. Guys a genius. Used a 1000 grit Shapton Glass stone. Very nice indeed touched up the blade swiftly, can’t see why anyone would have trouble sharpeni...

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
Sounds like patina to me and honestly with the awesome stone washed finish I think it will blend and look great, I really prefer a stonewashed finish over all others. Satin to me going from spine to blade is just like cheap grind marks and an unfinished piece. As a matter of fact I like Maximet so m...

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
Ok still going strong no need to touch up yet. Corrosion Report: Cut a piece of cheese with it last night, washed and wiped it down. Closed the knife left it on the counter this morning opened it and evidently some water gathered on the lettering next to the handle. Some rust and darkness formed als...

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
Put it through the grinder today broke down cardboard for 30 minutes straight cleaned the tape Gunk off and it still cuts receipt paper. Beats my K390 Police and any M390 S30V S35VN or CTS-XHP I ever used for edge retention as well as quite a few others to include S90V and S110V Incredible steel. Ha...

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
As for some wanting REX45 I just shake my head all it is, is unclad HAP40 and that is no where near as sharp or capable of holding and edge as this Maximet is I would have dulled HAP40 for sure today, where as this is still just as sharp as when I opened the box yesterday. Reportedly Spyderco's Rex...

Re: Sharpening
Their are many ways but if all you want to do is preserve your knife and not get too deep into sharpening creating mirrored bevels then you cant go wrong with the TriAngle Sharpmaker. Might want to add either the Diamond or CBN rods for later though when you need to bring the thinness down behind th...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
From the ones I own: VG-10: Very easy to bring to a very refined degree of sharpness very easily and does equally well with a fine medium or coarse finish. Pretty well rounded steel! very corrosion resistant. Has a very high degree of luster even with a satin finish. CPM Cruwear: Easy to sharpen is ...

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
Today has been my first full day of typical EDC usage and I have to say I am impressed by Maximet. I own and have owned enough different and unique steels in the same models by Spyderco that I can confidently say each steel is different from the last. You can tell by the way the steel passes through...

I was expecting some uneven grinds but got lucky everything is nice and even, it came in sharp but I can get it sharper.
Looking forward to discovering how long the factory edge will hold up without a touch up.

Re: Maximet PM2 at Blade H.Q. I bought one how about you?
The Maximet PM2 came in today. Love the Gray scales! The blade is sharp! Absolutly love the stone washed finish very attractive blade. Cut up the box it came in and noticed adhesives were not sticking to the blade as bad as on satan finishes. Interesting. Thanks Sal this one is a keeper! Just oiled ...

Re: Mr. Lester DeAsis passes
It is always painful to the heart to read of the passing of accomplished people who contributed so much to any and all fields of endeavor. Just last night I was going over my knife collection deciding what to keep, what to sell. Oddly enough I came upon two boxes. One was my Spyderco Jumpmaster I re...
