Remember H-1 works hardens. If you are using it for a spring, wouldn't that cause metal fatigue prematurely?

I usually cut plastic carrier bags. Thin plastic (or clingfilm) tends to snag very easily, so I find it provides a good benchmark if it doesn't do so.

Sorry to hear about your puppy.

Arm-hair shaving at a minimum, then sharpening when it doesn't perform how I want it to. I have been a bit lax lately though as my job role has changed and I don't need to cut anywhere near as much stuff :(

I think the whole key thing to remember is that a majority of us have probably not experienced blades with a Rc as high as this, nor factory edges with angles this acute. Most of the experience people seem to have had is with the burgundy Calypso Jr. as the Delica hasn't been out that long. I am fin...

Very interested! I'm just trying to work out if this is UK-legal.

Does the back half of the handle lock in the open position?

Perhaps some very coarse triangle stones made of SiC could be made available? I understand that these would likely be in direct competition with the diamond rods though, so this may be a disincentive. SiC would be a lot cheaper than the diamond too. If the stones were longer, I think that you would ...

Forgive me if I point out that the Utility HAK is not 440c, but 440a, nor a Spyderco product.

I wasn't too impressed at first, but it appears this work-hardening phenomenon is true. My SE Atlantic, that has been used and sharpened most out of my H-1 blades, is VERY different to when it first arrived. I also think that it can get ridiculously sharp. Maybe not quite to VG-10 levels but better ...

Anyone got top views comparing the thickness of the handles on a Chinook, a Manix and something that I might have already? I'm thinking that the thickness of the handle is important, and I can't stop looking at those two knives either!

Scott, any projected release month on the Superhawk yet?

I am loathed to use the Lil' T because it's my baby :D , and I find it rather large in the pocket. I may well give it a go though. I honestly hadn't thought about the Dodo at all, as that fell out of the rotation when I bought a load of new knives and was trying them out. Good call! My cutting techn...

Hard-use folder recommendations?

I'm sure I know how people will answer but here goes anyway! Cutting up extra thick cardboard boxes the other day in work with my Pacific Salt, I found myself wishing for a more sturdy or ergonomic handle. I was needing to push so hard I bruised my thumb. I'm between the Chinook (now it's flat groun...

I love NGK too! The only place I trust to send such expensive parcels all the way to the UK. Great prices on the shipping too.

Mary Beth is most helpful through email.
