Re: Repair a SE

Just had a quick glance into the vid (no time right now), but still: You will produce a V-edge instead of the original chisel grind with this method, right? Nothing I´d personally want on an SE knife. But rather keep the steeper chisel grind angle. If you use a Sharpmaker and sharpen the back side ...

Re: Repair a SE

I wouldn't worry about the chip too much, maybe use a thin diamond rod to grind out the chip into a new mini scallop ("Personally" I would use a diamond bit Dremel tool), but in general I'd bet you could get away with mostly ignoring it if you give the blade a good sharpening on a benchstone, using...

Ah sorry my friend, I don't remember seeing that thread from almost 5 months ago. I'm really surprised it didn't get more traction. Nothing to be sorry about - but great that you had the same idea and brought it up again! ... Like I back then just had an idea too that certainly MANY had before and ...

Alicia, since you are new, your answers are being monitored until you are out of the probationary stage . They will show up here soon. Until we know what knife you actually have, it is hard to suggest a solution. Good to tell her, Doc! This we should probably do concerning each new member - they of...

Pretty perfect "If I could only have two" - pair!! :)
(Except for me at least one should be serrated, which one can´t have in these exact two models / versions...)

Re: Serrated edge fans

... added to my post above: I would have no other medium than the CBN rod corners anyway to work on things like reprofiling. And even if I sharpened my Pac Salt with the 20 degree setting and brown rods all the time, finally there would come the day where I´d want to thin it out when the grind gets ...

Re: Serrated edge fans

Theory wise you would want steel that is easily sharpenable on the Spyderco medium. K390 would take too much effort without the corner of a CBN stone (which you're not supposed to do) so to me LC200N/H1 make the most sense. I own a SE Caribbean LC200N and the Spyderco medium at 15° does very well. ...

Re: My thumb keeps slipping from the hole on my new spyderco

My thumb keeps slipping from the whole on the spyderco knife.... ..... I think this problem happens with knives that have strong detents and then super easy action? At least that's what happened with mine -- I had to press my thumb into it kind of hard to get it open, and then it practically flew h...

Re: Chaparral Salt

I suppose it could still use skeletonized liners, although I would prefer less weight. I'm sure the price could easily get too high also. These things are usually easier said than done. I really like the extremely thin, but sturdy handle of the Chap - I think i that combination (that thin AND sturd...

Re: Chaparral Salt

I think at least with the FRN Chap linerless can't be done (if the handle remains as thin as it is).

Generally: The more Chap variants, the better.
This blade (stock) should become the role model for regular small to medium EDC folders imho.

Well, I confessed in the other thread that I'm PRO food prep with folders (at least ocassionally) :)

Especially with NEW ones, just to test them out.
This one actually performs great.

Re: Who has the S35VN Tenacious LW? Does it get overlooked and if,WHY?!

Thanks Vivi! :) My impressions are the same, just that mine is in FRN, a bit lighter, of course in S35VN and the liner does engage with its full width when locking up, but not "late" - just perfect. Yes, I started with the Seki knives and somehow was "snobby" enough to never go "lower" (except two o...

There are other "Shaman" designs in-the-works, including a thinner lighter one with a thinner blade stock. sal Hey Sal, Thank you for the reply. That sounds awesome. Love it.
