Re: Any news on the Kapara slipjoint?

I would rather be interested in a smaller Kapara with a liner lock. As always: A linerlock Kapara has my full and enthusiastic support!! (Would not actually have to be smaller for me though, but I have to admit: An a bit shorter linerlock Kapara would still be compelling: The platform offers just s...

Re: A step into the modern world with the Lil Native / thoughts

Hello everyone, thank you for all your kind replies to my first thread (Recommendations for a European traditionalis), I've now got my first Spyderco knife and I'm going to tell you all the things you already know about anyways, but I'm just pretty excited. After checking out all of your suggestion...

Re: Native Scout?

OK, I gotta admit, that's a very attractive size. Seeing it won me over. Can we just scootch the finger choil back into the handle a bit? There's plenty of room, and it'd leave more edge available for cutting. That´s a great proposal and would make me really interested in a 3.5" Native! So far...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

If I can get one, it looks like the price will be the equivalent of USD 112 + VAT + processing = about USD 160. Hopefully I can avoid the shipping fee, but then I will have to buy something else as well, to get above the free shipping threshold. So not exactly free shipping :) Still not that much m...

While I continue to dream of a salt Sage 5, I can’t help but want a LW SpydieChef to throw in my kitchen cabinet or camping backpack.
..

The current Catcherman sprint could be what you want... ?!

Re: Shaman w/ XHP & Black Micarta

Huh, strange mix of characteristics. After looking over some info, the only thing that I can think might edge it over some of it's competition (unintentional pun there) would be if it sharpened easier than more stainless options, but I haven't seen anything that suggests it does. It can get pretty ...

Re: Chaparral

I have a feeling the last two remaining non-FRN Chaparral folders (Raffir Noble & Birdseye Maple) will be in the 2025 Discontinued List which will be announced later this year. Chaparral CF/G-10 and Sun & Moon were discontinued in August 2023 as part of the 2024 Official Discontinued List ....

Re: Shaman in XHP and Micarta

It's not an exclusive and during Blade HQs live video they said 'limited run'. So is it a sprint? No offense meant, but imo it would be a good thing if people checked if there perhaps already IS a recent thread on stuff like a newly revealed exclusive, model before they start a new one... Would kee...

Re: Native Scout?

Just to sum up what in my subjective opinion makes a "real Native", why people might want a version between the "5" and the Chief and why the Shaman is not that. - Rather thin, slicey, but not tall blade with comparably fine tip (very fine on the Chief). (Shaman: Thick, partly sa...

Re: Native Scout?

..... I didn’t say a 3.5” Native wasn’t for me and it wasn’t hyperbole, I meant it - where is the limit? People have already been asking for a larger Native Chief as well. 4.5” Native Chiefs are also a glaring hole in their lineup, so why shouldn’t they make it? Either way, I would question if thei...

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?

Comp lock is strong, reliable, and easy to operate. I am not sure what else do you need from a knife lock. ... The comp. lock is a great lock indeed. But so are backlock, linerlock, CBBL. "Easy to operate": Yes, the comp.lock is that too, but in less than ideal conditions (gloves...) a li...

...for a bushcraft-worthy knife, the strength of a Compression Lock is a significant advantage..... Of course not claiming at all that I'd know even remotely close to what you (and of course also Sal) know about knife designs and lock strength - but that said: Is it a "significant advantage&qu...

Well said, any of these and I'm in.

Would be very cool, but do/will they use MC and K390 in Taichung?

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?

.... I find right handed comp locks the easiest to use and liner Locks the hardest... Same here concerning comp.locks: Imo very easy to operate with both right or left hand (I am a righty). Re: Native Scout?

Following vivi's line of reasoning, Spyderco should not have developed the Endela, but instead suggested to people to grind down the Endura. ... Yes, while I personally prefer Endura sized knives for general EDC, I am totally with you on that. (And sometimes I do want a shorter, more convenient car...
