Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
What we really need is a siren with yellow or green G10 and Magnacut..! ... Almost perfect, but make it FRN instead of G10... ;) (and add an SE option!) FRN for a Siren XL Slim model, and G10 for new and improved magnacut Siren. I’m not a big fan of serrations, personally, but if Spyderco made both...

Re: Why so many emails
I am getting a dozen or two false updates every day from some threads to which I have contributed. Malware has probably infected the forum or the forum host servers. Good luck, Spyderco. These notifications- at least in my case - are not actually "false" but just too late. After the forum...

Re: Golden Serrated Salts
I like combo edges. I find them very useful and the best of both worlds, in many ways. Yep, for me my "comboedge journey" has been funny: - Rather new to folders I thought comboedges just had to be "best of both worlds" without actually knowing much and just little experience. -...

Re: Why so many emails
Same here.
Not "hundreds" a day though in my case, more like ten or so.
Does not bother me much though as long as it does not go on forever like that (which it technically can't anyway)

Re: Golden Serrated Salts
Not to mention CE salts. I know I’ll sound like a broken record in this regard, but the total absence of CE in the salt production lineup is both surprising and a little disappointing. Of the Golden salts I think a Manix CE would be my preference, but ideally I’d also like to see backlock in the 3....

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
I would put it more as “too much money for any knife”. $265?!? Too much. Well, I got mine for clearly less money back when the Kapara was pretty new on the market - but going by todays general prices I think it is worth even the current price, when I consider the perfect execution and really high e...

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
OCD4EDC.com makes compression tab extenders for various models. He calls them CMEs (compression made easy). With the tab extender, even a lefty should have no problem manipulating the compression lock. I started a thread about this device once - I think in my first post I linked a vid where one can...

Re: The greatest mail call ever??
For me, i think it is. Well, maybe receiving the first Siren and Waterway topped this but nothing else! I haven’t felt this kind of excitement over a new knife in YEARS! https://i.imgur.com/UAVn3Tt.jpg I’ll offer some very brief initial observations on both knives. Catcherman: I was a Spyderco fan ...

Re: Golden Serrated Salts
My focus here is less on "Salt", but specifically on "Manix LW" when it comes to SE. I was really hoping that the Manix 2 LW Salt would finally give us a fully serrated ffg Manix (as far as I know there was only one fully serrated version so far, but in hollow grind and G10). I n...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
.. Neither are bad but there’s far better compact knives out there than both - Namely the Chaparral… Compared to the Lil Native The Chap has 9mm more cutting edge yet the profile when folded is only 4mm longer and 2mm wider (but is 3mm shallower) and the ergos are absolutely perfect. It’s slim and ...

Re: Native Chief Lightweight!!!
.... I will say this, if you wear slacks, or thin pants, this may be an issue. I wear thicker pants almost exclusively, and this is a non issue. If this is your primary knife that you will utilize and deploy multiple times per day, this could perhaps become an issue regardless, though I don't alway...

Re: Anyone Else Up For a Resilience in CPM-M4?
To me, the price point is the primary attraction with Chinese value line. That difference becomes less obvious with the higher end steels. Sure the designs are good as well, and if you prefer your edge all the way up to the handle, there's not a whole lot of options in the Spyderco lineup. It's sti...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
I understand different hand sizes and perspectives but to help me understand more what do you normally use a blade for when hiking? Thanks if I recall correctly and correct me if I’m wrong, you are doing this in the Austrian mountains and forests which is going to be different from the canyons and ...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
I have both (and the Chap LW). TLDR: Dfly ..and for me it's not even close. I carry a Dfly every day, and it's been this way for years now. It's the knife that solved my EDC. It's the way it balances light weight and small carry size with just enough grip area to get a full, secure grip and just en...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
It would be good if we could include our usage scenarios as that would illuminate the sense that a choice makes. Some here really get the Dragonfly. It is the invisible knife that one never notices in pocket but will greatly outperform its size. This is highly sought in the hiking community especia...

Re: Stretch XL SE in H2, now I get it!
I purchased the stretch XL H2 SE when DACK had it for $75 on a whim. I’m glad I did as I now understand what all the fuss is about with the SE and the model. There is a lot of blade for the handle size. I’m a plain edge kind of guy, but the SE blade seems thin, is extremely slicey and just wants to...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
Price aside, I don’t think there’s any scenario where a Chaparral isn’t always superior to the Dragonfly. Better ergos, better blade, and super compact. Where the Dragonfly has always been a mini knife in a mini package the Chaparral is a full size knife in what seems as small as a Dragonfly packag...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
Nah. You'd like the Dragonfly better. It is a lot more slicey and it weighs nothing. On some of your adventures you would have it and not even know you did until you needed it. Well, Doc, I was talking about the announced Lil Native Lightweight vs Dfly... As said: The G10 Lil Native has literally n...
