Re: Atlantic Salt: replacement handle

May I ask: What exactly is wrong with that old handle? Anything functional?
Looks good to me, just on that pic...

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?

Not mine, it must be one of my most carried Spydercos and also one of my favorite food prep knives. https://i.imgur.com/I2d26Ci.jpg For a still general utility folder and for its compact closed size the Kapara works absolutely great in food prep indeed! (Aside from tasks where a taller blade would ...

Re: An ongoing mystery: Why still no ffg Manix 2 SE? (NOT meant as a complaint)

I have no interest in a serrated Manix 2 in any steel, but I still don't understand why there aren't any in the lineup. It seems obvious there should be at least one. Maybe they haven't wanted to introduce a new blade until the screwed CQI came out, or until the Salt release. My guess is it's just ...

I prefer combo edges. SEF, my friend, so you´re back?! That´s good!!...

Re: An ongoing mystery: Why still no ffg Manix 2 SE? (NOT meant as a complaint)

That has not been my experience. I've found that serrations cut some tough materials better than a plain edge. When the job is complete, the serrated edge is still suitable for continued use, while the plain edge can be disappointingly degraded. For this reason, if I think I'm going to encounter so...

Reporting back . . . I bought a Dragonfly 2 with Black FRN and VG-10. Decided my capability gap was not having a blade under 2.5 inches for carry in a more (blade length) restrictive nearby locality. (It does look great next to the Endura and Delica.)

I sure hope you went for SE... ;)

Re: An ongoing mystery: Why still no ffg Manix 2 SE? (NOT meant as a complaint)

I am a huge SE fan. Almost all my Spydies are SE or CE. That said, I don’t really understand what keeps Spyderco making SE versions of so many of their knives. My observation is serrations are almost unknown in the folder world today. If serrated folders were profitable surely there would be a lot ...

Re: An ongoing mystery: Why still no ffg Manix 2 SE? (NOT meant as a complaint)

I've been away for a while...haven't had much in the last few reveals to entice me. Has this topic ever gotten an answer or maybe a hint that we will be getting one in the future? Just me over here sticking to the SE salts I'm used to... No, nothing on that front, at least from all I know... I am s...

Said it (often) before:
This knife in a lightweight version (just like the Manix 2 LW) would be an instant buy for me - even more so in that classic St. Nicks configuration (love my St Nicks Goddard, especially the steel!)

Re: Benchmade Water Series (salt series?)

The small Adira looks nice but I'm not in a rush. I am afraid that pronounced and "sharp" pinky hook on the rather short handle could be a problem (so that larger hand perhaps don´t have enough space between front guard and pinky hook and the pinky sits right ON that pretty abrupt hook).....

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

David, you really made my Sunday with this post. I haven't been over here since ages only to find this gem. As a full serrations nut since 2005, I very much appreciate this. I had a plan to make one of these post myself but you did a better job than I ever could since I can't post pics anymore on t...

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?

I love my Kapara's. One of Spyderco's best knives. I have the S30v and the 20cv exclusive. I have no issue with the lock. I showed it to one of my long time buddies, in fact the guy that got me started on the Spyderco freight train :beaming-face, and he had never seen one! He was mind boggled at th...
