Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
Count me in the minority, but I'd rather wish the management team make the long-requested Para-3 sized Manix instead of a CBBL Sage... I would also prefer that. I don´t know folks, let me explain: - Imo a "Para 3 sized" smaller Manix would absolutely have to get rid of the Manix 2 pinky h...

Re: Should I buy a Sage 5 lw or Paramilitary 2 as my first Spyderco?
I am looking to buy a Spyderco, and I like the Sage 5 lw and the Paramilitary 2 the most. Which one do you think is better in terms of ergonomics, carry ability etc? I can only choose one of these two. Welcome! You should better post this question in the "General Discussion" forum, not he...

Re: Thin for the win. I'm back in.
... So, has any forumite asked for thinner blade stock? +.2mm to the next thinnest. ... Oh man, you´re charging an open door with this, at least when it comes to me... My main "quest" here is to ask for a longer (endela-size) Chaparral, mainly for the 2mm bladestock (see here for example ...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
..... The really slight size difference makes no difference to me, and I think if they wanted to do premium gent version slip joints the ukpk is also just as worthy of an option. my opinion is basically if you want a slip joint knife with the main genetic features the chap has I think the urban and...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
The Urban has a 2.5" blade. The UKPK has a 3" blade. The Chaparral has a 2.75" blade. It fits. No doubt it fits! Blade length is just one of several aspects here. Said it above already: Thinner blade stock [EDIT: just looked it up: I was wrong! Same thin stock!], better blade to hand...

Re: Cool Drops
I have a Paramilitary 2 that I have had for a few years. I am considering buying a new Paramilitary 2 or maybe a Para 3, but I would like something cooler than average. How can I know when Spyderco is going to or has released P2s or P3s with something special like an above average steel or special ...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
They entire Military line is a bit odd in that they have a very thick blade stock (0.145" or 3.7mm for all of them), but taper to a pretty fine point. I guess it is just a unique design feature. It is more apparent in person, but the Para 3 has a fairly stout tip compared to the others in the ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
We probably won't do anything with the "Cross-bar" Lock, as it seems to be very popular with a large number of Makers. It’s not a bad lock but I think CBB is better by far. Cross bar springs always strike me as a failure point waiting to happen. ... I think for the underlying idea of disp...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I have often looked at this model to compete with my two current favorites for house remodeling which are the Manix 2 and the Para 3. The Para 3 actually has a pretty stout tip compared to a lot of its counterparts. This is a surprising statement to me Jeff, but of course it has weight to it due to...

Re: VG10 HRC
I should pick up a VG10 Endura. Seems like it would pair well with my Swiss Army knife. Both lightweight but useful for different tasks You should indeed! If you ask me: Make sure it is the ffg and not the sabre grind version (unless you want a supersturdy tip). My no 1 recommendation for a VG10 En...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
... and before people perhaps say that the UKPK is close to a Slipit Chap: Imo it is not really. - The Chap is a slimmer and shorter (by almost ten percent) package, but offers more blade and edge in relation to the handle length than the UKPK - has more solid built - has a thinner blade stock [EDIT...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
Doc, you know how I love and admire the Chap, especially as an even for Spyderco unique design in several aspects. And though one of these aspects actually is the supersolid (stop pin - ) backlock, it is still just ONE and since I am all for as many variants as possible of this knife to make more pe...

Re: Incredible Idea - created account for this
So the idea is a Bodacious sprint run in Magnacut and micarta, a way to sell the new shaman alternative model and the allure of magnacut perfectly heat treated by spyderco. The cherry on top though is the naming convention for the sprint run that struck me the other night, "Magna-Carta" ....

... Leaf shapes also make a very good geometry for self defense, as well as a general purpose tool with the belly to slice with. The design works great for what it’s intended for I found that a long, straight cutting edge (like the Stretch offers) actually slices better or at least with more power,...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
... Note: all thoughts here pertain to SE blades, as I mostly carry SE and do not own a PE LT3. That being said, the LT3LW is one of my favorite folders. While the blade stock is obviously quite thick, the blade is also tall enough that (at least in SE) it's a far more impressive slicer than you'd ...

.. On mine the blade won't drop shut without loosening the pivot too far. That makes it a two handed closer. ... No offense, but honest question: Why "a two handed closer"?! Why not just use one of the other (to me actually more convenient and more secure anyway) comp.lock closing methods...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I’m also have been contemplating the lil temp as of late. I had the g10 version for awhile and find myself missing it. What I appreciated about it was that I did not have to “think” much when I used it. I generally prefer long thin blades and usually carry the police 4. With that knife and others l...
