Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition

The Sharpmaker is my No. 1 go to sharpener all reprofiling and routine sharpening, yes, even in K390. Pretty sure my cbn stones are worn out. Would like a set of cbn rods completely impregnated with abrasive over the coated steel shapes though, they’d last longer. At today’s MAP though I probably wo...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

I’m pretty happy with something the size of a PM2, Endura, or Military. A choil-less PM2 would have more edge length in the same package. Part of carrying a pocket knife is how it fits in my pockets, and these sizes are pretty unobtrusive. A Shaman is bigger. I once had one of the bulky Kershaw/ZT d...

After 2.5 hours of trick or treating I cooked some lamb tacos with fresh homemade pico and pickled onions to finish off the night. Hit the spot! https://files.catbox.moe/6hb3n4.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/PxjZCcq0/20231031-204113.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/HnWy2yX2/20231031-204810.jpg https://i.postimg....

Re: Bodacious Discussion

_This_ is what I’m talking about. Now, let’s see some sprints in K390, MagnaCut, etc. with micarta! I’ve really been enjoying my REX45 PM2 lately, more than cruwear. Yeah cruwear sharpens easy and wicked, but REX45 needs attention a lot less. Same with K390.

I’d be down for dayglow orange; no interest in red. I’m quite happy with bright yellow.

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco

IF spyderco got into the disposable razor market, theyd probably wipe out harrys, dollar shave, and all those other useless companies. Im using defender razor right now on a subscription and theyre nice, but Id drop them in an instant for spyderco If people knew how easy and cost effective it is to...

Re: Spyderco Online Factory Seconds Sale!

Can anyone guess if the Siren would be post CQI? I seem to recall the earlier version had a severe issue. I have the same question. The price isn’t worth catching a non-cqi with no warranty that can’t be returned. In other news I can finally get it! Tempted by an ARK, but they’re too expensive with...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

I made more pickles tonight and remembered to take pics. I was comparing the PM2 against a Mora 2000. For the camp kitchen, the Mora is hard to beat. I made 2 jars of cukes and 2 jars of green beans and carrots. One of each are kicked up a notch with 4 peppers each! BANG! https://i.imgur.com/YNM538s...

Re: Your running knife?

For purely running without stopping to bushcraft up a Fred Flintstone car or defending yourself from the mongol hordes or pack of hyenas, a dragonfly salt would probably be perfect. Carving a Fred Flintstone car on a run is just silly, because then it wouldn't be a run, it would be a ride. But I do...

Re: Dream Salt Knives

Thanks Vivi for these glimpses into kitchen knives! I’m definitely interested in a couple nice ones. We have Wusthof, but they’re not dull! They don’t hold an edge well, though to be fair are subject to typical family kitchen abuse. We have one Henckels, the big chef knife, that I only really use fo...

... But when I know I’m going to sweat like a pig, I reach for something in Cruwear or a salt. Those are two completely different choices, with no common characteristics apart from them both being steels ^^ The common characteristic is that I own them both and Cruwear is much less reactive for me t...

Re: Your running knife?

I got my fill of running cross country in high school. So I run with whatever knife I’m carrying when I have a legitimate reason to run. As in, away from something. But when I know I’m going to sweat like a pig, I reach for something in Cruwear or a salt.
