Re: Forum knife 2020 - model poll

I fear the Shaman is much to expensive for everyone who wants one to get one. I also fear the blade on the Shaman would disclude a lot of our fellow forum members who live in areas with restrictions on length (and locking knives for that matter). For that reason, I chose the UKPK (and because of the...

Re: What would it take to get a Forum Knife?

Big fan of the UKPK for a forum knife because it means most people (who want one) can own one without having to worry about legal restrictions. It's also a fantastic knife that has completely blown me away since I picked one up a while back.

Micarta with a "premium" steel would be phenomenal imo.

Re: Murray Carter in December's Byte!

I absolutely love my Spyderco/Murray Gyuto and I am very pleased that Spyderco has brought some higher end kitchen knives to the market! They are ground very thin and have great ergonomics which is a recipe for success in my kitchen. When I saw the pictures, I was concerned the handles would be a li...

Re: First Spyderco knife to obtain in 2020?

If I was going to own just one Spyderco on a budget, it would be the Chaparral LW, hands down. It’s an incredible knife that will do most anything you could ask of it. Great steel, fantastic blade geometry for cutting, and a nice premium hand feel (because of the backspacer in my opinion) with wonde...

Re: How many knives do you typically carry?

I have a Victorinox Yeoman with titanium scales that NEVER leaves my left pocket (unless it's being used) because of it's utility and then I carry a second knife out of my collection in my right pocket to do the majority of my cutting.

Works well for me.

...It also adds the options of colors and steels that many of you have asked for in this pattern. Hope that makes sense. sal This is exactly what I was hoping for with the LW Sage. I own an M390/Red Para 3 LW and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's such an exciting time to be a knife enthusiast!

Re: Black Friday cyber Monday DEALs?!?

Not really a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, but I ended up using the code NOVSAVE19 to get 20% (up to $20) off of the Spyderco Gauntlet Premium. My mom and her partner run a bar and grill and he was just complaining about needing a decent sharpener so he can stop sending his knives off. Should be ...

Re: Spyderco/Murray Carter Kitchen Knife Collaboration.

I've had my Gyuto for about a week now and it's every bit as good as I hoped it would be. :D Super slicey with an awesome grind. A great handle and balance... And it's light enough that my wife feels comfortable using it (I think that's a good thing?). I'm very pleased with this purchase and can't w...

Re: Black Friday cyber Monday DEALs?!?

I've been keeping my eye out but haven't seen much in the way of any types of ads for Spyderco sales yet. :(

I'm hoping for a decent price (maybe 20% off?) on the Gauntlet Premium so I can pick it up as a gift.

Re: Spyderco/Murray Carter Kitchen Knife Collaboration.

I'm haven't looked into these knives too closely, as I'm well fixed for nice handforged Japanese kitchen knives. One thing I'm curious about though is, are these knives Kata-ha (chisel) ground or 50/50? It's hard to tell from the photos, but the ones I've seen look 50/50 ground, which is good news ...

Re: Spyderco/Murray Carter Kitchen Knife Collaboration.

A little bit of a bummer today... Cutlery and More accidentally sent me the 7.5" Bunka Bocho instead of the 9.5" Gyuto I ordered. :( On the plus side, they were super easy to work with and the exchange should happen really quickly. So far the Bunka seems (can't use it obviously, lol) like a phenomen...

I couldn't resist this one any longer. Ordered all black pocket clip/screws/frame and pivot screws to go with it. Going to be sick, hopefully. I'll post a pic after assembly if I can Nice  Thanks :) Originally I wanted to bronze everything but was struggling to find all the hardware. Blacked ...

Spyderco/Murray Carter Kitchen Knife Collaboration.

I saw a deal on the 9.5" Super Blue Gyuto that was MUCH too good to pass up so I now have one on the way (with free two day shipping to boot)! I'm super excited... It should pair well with my 7" Kramer/Zwilling 52100 Santoku. :D Anyone have one the Spyderco Murray Carter kitchen knives? I'd love to ...

My idea of the perfect Native 5 is just about complete. :D Cruwear blade, steel liners, and african blackwood scales. Now I just have to decide on a clip. Right now I'm thinking of getting one of those gorgeous creations by Josh of Razor Edge Knives. https://i.imgur.com/cQbMChD.jpg https://i.imgur.c...

Almost there! The rear of the knife needs to be thinned a bit... But it's getting close!

P.S.
PD#1 is a heck of a steel!

I've really been enjoying this knife so far. :)

Spyderco has a real winner with the Para 3 Lightweight and DLT went with a fantastic steel/color combination. Two thumbs up!
