Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

DLT has Reward points also. Thank You SD. Those extras certainly add up in this hobby. After a bit of clicking around, it appears when I created my original account at DLT, that I failed to also join the loyalty program. :o A separate step that I don't remember having to do at KC. But with DLT you ...

Re: Z-Cut Spyderco Food Prep Knife in BD1N!

Really, really hoping for a 12" version over here, I know too many people who like giant sourdough loaves. There aren't enough long bread knives in this silly world of 9" wooden blocks. Fillet knives and bread knives... For whatever reason, I found people rarely agree on the best length for those t...

I'm definitely looking forward to this series and won't complain if a longer bread knife were in the works

Re: KC Exclusive Ladybug

I've got one sitting in my cart as we speak... Just waiting for someone to confirm whether or not a blade swap can be performed with a ZDP-189 or VG-10 version.

KnifeCenter wasn't sure and I'm still waiting to hear back from the Spyderco warranty department.

I’d buy one. I would like to see some real thought go into the sheath.

Kydex would work for me ... is likely going to get wet.

CG
I think a perforated nylon or Kydex sheath would be awesome. That way you could just spray it off after use.

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

Over the years I have realized that people have different interpretations of what it means to fillet a fish. Ah, that makes sense. This isn't the first time I've been confused in a fillet knife thread, lol. A serrated fillet knife confuses me. Wouldn't the teeth want to catch on bones? Using a sawi...

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

A serrated fillet knife confuses me. Wouldn't the teeth want to catch on bones? Using a sawing motion is the exact opposite technique you want to use when filleting a fish. You want the knife to flex around the bones, not catch and saw through them... And how do you properly remove the skin from a f...

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

It would be great to get a Phil Wilson designed Fillet knife. Especially since thats what got Phil started making knives. He couldn't find a fillet knife with killer steel and the right flex. So he made it. Phil is a legend, I consider him the "Godfather" of using PM steels for knives and helping p...

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

Right on!!!! But, flex is key as you have already referenced. My use is for Kokanee about 18"-22" in length. I have used the Rapala 6" Finland for years and it does the job well. It was bought at Kmart for a couple of bucks. Dulls easily and sharpens quickly so when filleting a catch of 10 to 20 fi...

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

Not sure if it's exactly what he needs but I'd say have a look at the waterway. An actual fisherman designed that knife. I have no clue on the 10 inch department. Another good option may be the upcoming 4 inch Z cut knives. Super thin and flexible I would be interested. Something like cpm154 would ...

Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

I'm am currently shopping for a couple of fillet knives to give as gifts to my little brother. He's an avid fisher/hunter and is in need of a flexible 6" to serve as his regular fillet knife and a stiffer 10" fillet knife to handle fish like sturgeon. Right now he's using standard big box store kniv...

Re: KC Exclusive Ladybug

I would REALLY like to bladeswap a ZDP-189 Ladybug blade into this knife but I fear that's not possible since it has the full backspacer and the lockbars tend to need to be mated... Can someone confirm whether or not a swap would be possible when they receive theirs? I know one of you awesome people...

Re: M390 Delica Blue FRN Bento Box Shop Exclusive

Anyone plan on HRC testing theirs? Any guesses?? Over on BF some members were speculating that this is going to be "too low" on the HT because M390 has to be 60+ to make any sense. I have no idea how accurate that is, but it has me intrigued. First M390 knife out of Seki, so curious as to where thi...

Re: M390 Delica Blue FRN Bento Box Shop Exclusive

Guys, shiny footprints. Good point, advice taken. I'm looking forward to M390/ZDP-189 comparisons in the same blade. Suspect there isn't going to be much, if any, difference. Amazon has ZDP for $94 with free shipping, so probably the better bang for your buck. CG I'd actually expect M390 to be toug...

Re: M390 Delica Blue FRN Bento Box Shop Exclusive

What frustrates me about Bento Box is the way they price gouge on in demand Sprint runs. If they were pricing them at retail instead of MAP, I could probably let it slide, but they are setting crazy prices. Calypso Jr Super Blue Sprint: MAP/MSRP - $77.97, Spyderco Retail - $119.95, Bento Box - $199....
