Re: BHQ Manix in M390
Has there been a sprint or special edition in the XL? I would love to see that. I don't have any experience with M390, does it rust or corrode easily? I like the satin blade but would go with the DLC black if it corrodes easily. The S90v CF Manix2 XL is the only XL sprint I am aware of. M390 is a g...

Re: Left handed
Not miffed at all, but I have been really seriously curious .... First, I'm going back and forth on the compression lock ... I have quite a few PM2, and they are very nice to play with, in the office and such, open some boxes, cut some food, etc. However, in hard use, the PM2 actually bugs my hand ...

Re: Left handed
Is it difficult to close a right-handed PM with your left hand ? I'm right-handed, but it's easy to flick and close my PMs with the other hand .... and the clip can be put on both sides. Just wondering. Try some liner- and frame-locks. Also, swap the clip on your regular, right-handed knife to left...

Re: CTSBD1 stainless?
Hi Mom3, I'm surprised as well. Please keep us posted on future rusting? It should be at least as rust resistant as the tenacious. Is anyone else having corrosion issues with BD1? sal I've carried a Manix 2 LW combo edge in BD1 for years as my go-to EDC/Work knife - probably 4 or 5 out of every 7 d...

Re: What percent of your knife collection consists of users?
I clicked 11-20% but there's a caveat. I regularly rotate among an ever-changing group of 10 or so knives. I buy some, I sell some, and I like the variety. Almost all the rest are either identical models in different steels or models that simply haven't made it into the rotation yet. So these are al...

Re: Your Spyderco Thanksgiving EDC
Manix 2 in M4 with my own "Sea glass" colored dye job on the scales. Looks great sinnyc! Reminds me of a specific lamp I remember from my grandparents house as a child. Love seeing everyone's jade dye projects. Thank you although it had far more to do with serendipity than skill :) I had ...

Re: Friendly Challenge to fellow Spyderco Users: I say Endura and Delica 4 = Best and "Peak" Spyderco Model. What say y
If peak = best design so far, my vote is the Manix 2. It's large and stout enough to do serious work; thin enough to slice well; nonthreatening enough to not raise too many eyebrows in certain circles; small enough to carry without noticing it. And the ergonomics are unparalleled; not only is it the...

...But in general, I'm all about high performance, Ergos, safety. That's why I've been accused of "deigning in the dark"... sal Yep. I'd rather have an aesthetically neutral tool that feels like a part of me and works like a demon than one that looks gorgeous but doesn't work as well or f...

Re: What should I buy to practice sharpening on?
I went to the Salvation Army and found a couple of partial knife sets for about $20. Even though the steel was really poor, it was excellent practice for getting comfortable with the mechanics of freehand sharpening. Builds muscle memory if nothing else. And I got those suckers SHARP eventually :)

Re: Are you cheating on the bug?
Not even close to exclusive and can't imagine why I would be. There's an ever-increasing number of excellent knives out there and I have no problem trying as many as I can afford. Still, I'd estimate that my collection is roughly 50% Spyderco and 5 of my 10 regular EDC knives are Spyderco, too :)

Re: How do you determine which Spyderco is best for you?
1. I begin with the purpose of the knife: what do I intend to use a given blade for and how does this or that knife appear to fill those needs. 2. How does it feel? All the stats in the world are worthless if you can't comfortably use the tool. 3. How easy is it to maintain? If I'm going to use a to...

Re: Ideal blade thickness for your EDC folder?
2.5mm-ish. I'm a huge Manix fan and have 7 of them. The only thing I'd change on them is blade thickness - just a liiiittle thinner and it would be utter perfection.
