Re: Sal SM-100 mule knife ?

This came up some time ago and if I remember correctly Cliff Stamp chimed in claiming that while SM-100 can achieve hardness similar to blade steels that it was a quite brittle in comparison. Then there needs to be an SM-111. Is it possible for metallurgists, blade freaks, and one absolutely random...

Re: Spyderco Titanium BLADED knives?

FYI on the magnetism thing. I made a titanium sign for a show, 1" x 3". I put it in my pocket with nothing else in any of my pockets. I walked through a metal detector at the court house to test the material and the Ti was picked up. Just saying. Sal But will a neodymium stick to it? The ...

Re: How to oil non-stainless steel?

I prefer a blade with a corrosion-resistant wet sheen thats flicked off, theres more hydrophobic material to maintain that action. As long as it isnt saturating the grip or thumb-opener, I like a slightly oily blade, it dries in less than 100 hours. For food prep, any food-based oils would do. Cocon...

Re: So Is Maxamet Dead Now?

All black DLC Maxamet 3.5in length and thicker blade with a 1/3 toothless alternating large-and-small serration (for conical sharpeners) lock back in steel liners with G10 scales. With an alternate model in CTS 204P.

Long live tungsten-alloyed steel blades!!

Profile Google+ URL field doesnt allow +

When adding the Google+ URL, the site says that it can only accept alphanumeric characters. I checked to see if the URL can be viewed without the + special character, it cannot.

Update: Figured it out. It doesnt accept the full URL, it works only with the Google username.

Self-coating steel blades

Hi, I would like to black coat a Maxamet blade. Sand, candle wax the blade edge and trim with compass razor (or coat it all and resharpen it), one coat Rustoleum High Heat primer, one+ coat Rustoleum High Heat black, and one+ clear coat of acrylic. Is this cray cray? I've only spray painted or corro...
