Re: Anyone here collect fountain pens?

Right now I'm jonesing over a Jacques Herbin glass dip pen that I saw yesterday. Simply beautiful. I've had a couple of those and they're great to use but you have to expect some uneven writing as they usually start broader and fine down as the ink starts to run out, but having said that I enjoy us...

Re: Anyone here collect fountain pens?

I'm dreaming of an M800 but over here they cost a lot of $$$. A few years ago, I bought some Pelikans and was very lucky that, at the same time, the now much sought after original M800 Tortoiseshell Brown was just out. I bought one and it is an absolutely beautiful pen. Although I mainly use the M6...

Re: What was your first knife?

A James Barber ERA double bladed slipjoint. I purchased the knife (there was no 18+ law back then) at my local fishing tackle shop with money I got from selling my first Salmon. But it was a short-lived ownership because my mother took it off me when I got back home showing it off! But later on, she...

Re: Anyone here collect fountain pens?

I've collected a few fountain pens over the years but haven't kept it up recently because I have a handful of users which I always reach for so I just don't have the same interest in new stuff these days. My most used pen at home is a Pelikan M600 in black & blue with a fine nib which would real...

Re: Chinook Collector

Many years ago, I bought a second-hand first model Chinook on the British Blades forum. I accidentally dropped it onto a little steel bin pedal bin below my writing desk and still have that bin, and sharp ding on the lid, to this day. It was one heavy-duty beast of a folding knife. But, more to the ...

Re: if you could only own a 5 Spyderco knife collection:

My five would be;

1. UKPK (Heinnie Haynes red G-10) leaf blade
2. Lil' Temperance (1st choice is the earlier green G-10 then the newer black G-10) leaf blade
3. D' Allara
4. Stretch (1st choice is the earlier carbon fibre then the newer grey G-10 XL)
5. Chinook 4

Re: Stretch 2 XL in grey G10 and CruWear steel!

Mine arrived today. It has been a long time since I bought a knife so I knew I really wanted this one. Funny, the CF Stretch was my go-to knife after I stopped with CRK a while back, and this model felt just right for some reason. From what I've spotted glancing over the comments, there are some wit...

Re: What is the first Spyderco you'd replace?

A wee while ago, I mentioned the Lil' Temperance here and in the other "one" knife thread but I've always been in two minds about it and another favourite, the D’Allara. Honestly, I think they're both equally well suited as my "one" knife, and first to replace if necessary, but I...

Re: Have you found "the one?"

I voted yes because I'd be happy with one knife and that's the G-10 Lil' Temperance. I took a shine to the original green G-10 model and would say from the knives I own now that it's easily my favourite. Reasons for choosing this one? Well, the deep scales for grip and comfort - the large (but never...

Re: What is the first Spyderco you'd replace?

If I was going to replace one Spyderco, it would be the Lil' Temperance in the original green G-10 leaf blade, if I could find one, or else the newer black G-10 model. If I had the opportunity to replace as many as I liked, I'd just go for one more knife, the UKPK, in the red G-10 leaf blade so I'd ...

Re: Any planned new Ball Bearing Lock knives?

Cool picture, CDEP. I've noticed the Phoenix & Dodo but I've never had the chance to pick either up here. Cards on the table, above everything else I'd love to see an everyday carry knife with this ball bearing lock. Maybe even in a smaller Manix like elana86 has mentioned above. I think this lo...

Re: Any planned new Ball Bearing Lock knives?

Only two knives is indeed unusual when you look at the range nowadays. Perhaps Sal or somebody from the company could explain why they haven't been put into more models but there must be a very good reason for it. I'd imagine from reading reviews and opinions that the white ceramic ball bearing is d...

Re: Any planned new Ball Bearing Lock knives?

Sure, like you, Bolster, I'd be interested in any new CBBL knives as well as the white ceramic ball.

I think the Q Ball maybe gave that particular design a bit of a bad rep with the smaller, and trickier to unlock, version but I do like them for some reason.

Any planned new Ball Bearing Lock knives?

Hello all, I was wondering if there are any new (or planned) knives with the Ball Bearing Lock? I know about the Manix & P’Kal models but I specifically mean any knives with the white ceramic ball bearing. The only ones I know of are the now discontinued D’Allara & Q Ball but will there be a...

Re: Wolfspyder 2?

Although I'll stick to my guns about liking the idea of an XL version, the existing model is a really cool alternative to a traditional pocket knife. That's how I carry mine - clip removed and deep pocket carry. Like some have noted the blade-swing action is weightier, more than any other Spyderco I...

Re: Wolfspyder 2?

I have the original. In fact, I bought two of the original as I loved the knife with it's green G-10 handle and Scandi grinded blade. But, if there is a new model coming coming, I think it needs to be nearly half as big again as the original. While I really do like the WolfSpyder and enjoy carrying ...

Re: The price of knives

It's a sign of the times when people who love following and carrying new knives are in a position where they just can't afford to buy them. For my own most recent example, I longed after the new Drop Point penknife from HH but I decided it's too close to the Leaf model I already have to not buy one....

Re: The Elephant In The Reveal (besides the BBB Manix): The Lil Temperance LW Price

Prices are up. And I guess that's that. Like it or lump it, as I think the old saying went. You can sit behind a keyboard and type away to oppose it or cover it but the fact is prices are up. In many cases, way up. I've decided this week to stop drinking beer and, while some might laugh that off as ...

Re: The Elephant In The Reveal (besides the BBB Manix): The Lil Temperance LW Price

Although I don't follow all the news with XL makeovers, I have noticed a couple of them recently. I know it's a one shop exclusive and not likely to ever happen but I always thought an XL WolfSpyder would have been an excellent big knife, especially with the rare scandi grind. And, back on topic, th...
