I know I'm a little late to the party, but I'll provide some things. First, that's normal for a CE Crossbill, or any of the other SE/PE Spyderco's I've seen. Second. When I first got my Crossbill back in 2005, I contacted the company because of the difficulty of sharpening such a hard steel (actuall...

You guys, stop being pansies. I shave with a Civilian twice a day. :D This was my first wet shave: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=293 Course that was before I got around to getting a straight. Been straight shaving since October of last year now. Butch makes some nice looking s...

8Cr13MoV has a Rc hardness of 58-59 according to A.G. Russell's steel guide as well as others. I would like to see the Rc on Spyderco's steel chart in Edge-U-Cation. I have had two knives with this steel. A Meadowlark which I liked but gave to a friend and now I have a Byrd Wings. I use that on my ...

Ghostrider, Everything is situational. I will say that, carrying a knife or firearm in your hand and walking down a public street is different than carrying a firearm or knife in a holster or sheath in an area where open carry is legal. If the weapon is in your hand, standard LEO doctrine is usuall...

ghostrider, I'd quibble with that particular quote -- in fact, I'd say that 9 times out of 10, believing that is the cause of sharpening problems... assuming that what you mean by magic marker test is marking up the edge and sharpening it til the marker is all gone. If that's not what you mean, ign...

Essentially yes. Though perhaps not how you think. Sharpening skill comes with practice. The more time you put in with what you have, the more you will realize and improve you abilities. Practice leads to mastery. Purchases just lead to more stuff most of the time. That right there is quotable. If ...

Another question, I used a DMT coarse (if a reprofiling is necessary) and then to Sypderco medium, then fine then ultra fine. Is that a proper step down or should there be something between the coarse and the medium? You could probably go medium DMT. I usually use a diamond of some sort to reprofil...

Yes, I'm sure that other LEOS do have opinions. I really don't follow a lot of your logic on this one, though. 1. Why was his weapon drawn? Well, if the officer is driving down the street and sees a man who is known to be frequently combative and disorderly, and said man is carrying an open knife o...

... I would venture to guess that if you talked to an officer approaching veteran status... he would also tell you that sometimes they don't just get threatened by drunks and bums. I would guess that sometimes people with nothing to lose make good, or try to, on threats. I have a passing acquaintan...

Here's what I don't quite understand. ... The officer said he stopped Williams because he was carrying an open-bladed knife and a piece of wood while walking across the intersection of Boren Avenue and Howell Street. ... That this is even considered criminal activity is beyond me, and scary at the s...
