Re: Which Steel In you’re experience is your favorite for Spydie Edges?

the only se i have is in h1, so it's my favorite by default. to be fair, i would not likely carry a se knife that wasn't a salt unless my daily carry needs required cutting of natural fibers, rope, or other tough materials frequently. i think se is particularly well suited for emergency use on/in th...

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

i think it’s fun to change things up a bit when i get to judge by giving a theme or some other criteria. i feel like it adds an extra challenge to our creativity. however, there are no rules here and i’ve really enjoyed some of these images with only one knife. this is supposed to be a fun way to co...

Re: Rusty Waterway - Your Thoughts

i don’t understand the draw for tool steels anymore. lc200n holds an edge like s30v/xhp, takes an edge like aus8, and is basically completely rustproof. what more could you want?! actually, i understand tool steels on cheap outdoors fixed blades, but i’m not spending $200 on a knife that will rust i...

Re: Manix v Manix XL v PM2

i went through the same thing between the manix 2 and manix xl. i went with a manix 2 lw because i was able to pick up an exclusive with xhp steel. as soon as i stared carrying it, i realized right away that it is basically the perfect knife for me. after having a chance to later handle and carry th...

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

Winner this week to ladybug93's fire shot: wow, thanks! looks like it was the week of the native. :) i look forward to seeing some sweet images this week. in the spirit of another recent thread here, i was thinking it would be fun to see your favorite edc pair of knives. my favorite pair would be a...

Re: Let's take a look inside my Police 4

this is exactly why i don’t understand everyone’s obsession with rusty tool steels. i’m surprised the liners are more rusted than the blade, but maybe it makes sense since you’re using the blade and the liners don’t get wiped down. anyway, when we have lc200n, h1, and others, i don’t understand why ...

Re: RIP Pacific Salt

man, that’s rough. spydercos certainly aren’t disposable. have you considered some kind of tether? maybe you could run some paracord through the lanyard hole and around a belt loop so that it’s not gone forever if you drop it or it pops out of the pocket, but you can still reach what you need to cut...

Re: pacific salt tattoo

i knew one of you backlock fanatics would bite on that. i want to try a caribbean in my waistband just to see if it’s really a problem. i’ve never had an issue with a comp lock opening on me. like i said, the clothing holds it in place too.

Re: pacific salt tattoo

Seems weird to carry it working out too. Good luck if it opens up somehow. i’ve never had any issues with it at all. i shouldn’t have had it on me playing a contact sport, but there’s never been an issue doing any other type of workout. its thin and lightweight, it’s not in the way and you barely n...

Re: My perfect city combo and my perfect "just-one" blade... show yours

perfect combo in the city is the manix 2 lw paired with a se pacific salt. these are definitely my favorite two knives. the manix has perfect ergos, carries wonderfully with it's narrow end and wire clip, and that beautifully useful leaf shaped blade. the pacific salt offers the corrosion resistance...

Re: Manix 2 lightweight choices or ?

I liked my manix 2 but it was bulky in the pocket. Want a lw model but will not buy a pinned knife ever. I am still surprised that they have not made it screw construction based on the amount of ppl who have asked for it let alone the ppl who wont buy it. although the manix 2 is a little bulky in t...

Re: Manix 2 lightweight choices or ?

i have the xhp exclusive from knifecenter and i love it. that said i would personally steer clear of s110v because i prefer steels that are easy to sharpen. i know spyderco is slowly replacing bd1 with bd1n in the manix 2 lw. maybe you could call around and find one of those. otherwise, i don’t see...

Re: pacific salt tattoo

i’ve definitely done this, but today was the result of a collision. Ah, hahaha! :) At least your OK bug. Re: pacific salt tattoo

Imagine what a native does to your hip when you put a motorcycle down... The native did survive. i’m not gonna lie, sometimes i carry my native salt there instead and was very glad i wasn’t today. the rounded edges aren’t a huge deal in my hand, but they make a big difference iwb, especially with a...
