Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

you all made it really hard this week! so many great shots to have to choose from. i decided to go with some of the more rare entries. first place goes to adrian.johansson with this nice focal point (pun intended) on the mamba. Spyderco Mamba CPM-S30V https://files.catbox.moe/p4cjdf.jpg and second g...

Re: Which steels did you carry today?

Very interesting to see the top 5 or 6 from week 1. I know H1 is popular, but I wouldn’t have guessed by such a large margin. I wonder if H1 benefits from the ‘backup knife’ factor, as Victorinox 1.4110 obviously does as well? I wouldn’t necessarily have picked CTS-XHP to be up there either. I like...

Re: POLL: Who´d like to see a knife along the lines of the Caribbean, but with a BACKLOCK?

i understand your points. personally, i don’t see those as problems needing to be fixed with the pacific salt. i will say, however, that if it were lined g10, i think it would be more compelling as a more solid replacement for the pacific salt. i think i’d still rather have the compression lock thou...

Re: POLL: Who´d like to see a knife along the lines of the Caribbean, but with a BACKLOCK?

not trying to be negative, but i’m not sure what an frn caribbean with a backlock would do for me (or spyderco) that isn’t already done by the pacific salt, especially if the lc200n ffg pacific salt ever materializes.

but i didn’t vote no. i have an open mind.

Re: Caribbean Scales: Love, or Hate?

I haven't had a chance to handle one. I suspect if I get one I would reduce the hook at the butt of the handle. this is my only substantial beef with this knife. if it had a similar design as the manix 2 at the butt of the handle, i would buy a pe leaf and se sheepsfoot immediately and they would p...

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

i always have a knife in my waistband when i work out and when i’m at the beach. it’s not for sharks. it’s for anything i might need a knife for, just like the rest of the time i carry one. i carry a se pacific salt because you never know when you might need to cut yourself, or someone else, out of...

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

I could probably talk about both sides of this. I will say, after a lifetime on the beach, and many years as a beach lifeguard, there was only one time I had to cut a person loose from something. It was a coworker who got tangled in braided line while training. Thank god he was at the surface in sh...

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

I'm a little worried about carrying my Military in my right front pocket. Being tip down carry and the spine not against the seam of my pants like it normally is, I just hope I don't stick my hand in my pocket and when pulling my hand out, that the blade doesn't happen to be open a bit and gets me ...

I'll never understand people like you and bloke making fun of people who had a knife malfunction. Weird response to an honest problem Bloke himself has even experienced. Hey Vivi, lets put this into context, mate; Bug mentioned the thread was drifting towards lock preferences and I should have kept...

Re: Change Caribbean Scales to Rastafarian colors?

It turns out people love the current scales and wouldn't dare adding some green and red. Evidently this model is to remain ARBITRARILY named the Caribbean. Lol Nothing arbitrary about it at all. Sal can correct me if I am wrong, but the Salt models are named after Oceans and Seas, not islands, cont...

Re: Caribbean Scales: Love, or Hate?

wasn’t this a discussion about handle scales? why does the backlock brigade feel the need to remind us all that they are terrified of detents in every thread about knives with a compression lock? almost every salt folder besides this one is a backlock. some of us happen to like the compression lock...

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll

i don't understand anyone objecting to a basically rustproof steel being put into proven workhorse platform. this is absolutely a winning combination. even if you don't care about corrosion resistance, why would you be opposed? i have a personal bias against the many tool steel sprints/exclusives, b...

in its current form, i’m hesitant to buy one. if it had this color scheme, i absolutely would not buy one ever.
