When I compare the picture with two of my old knives (~2002) it looks like about half an inch of the tip is missing and it has been regrind to create a new tip.

There is certainly something wrong with the knife!
This Civilian is missing 17 mm of its tip (the flat part and two small serrations).

I have a serrated CX02GS Experimental 2 made in 8/98.

I've got the "PATEN" clip on a CoPilot and on a carbonfiber Dragonfly. Both have ATS-55 steel blades.

You have got the probe (2002). The mini probe (2003) is smaller (that's why "mini") and has a measuring scale of 5 inch/110 cm. Another small difference is the opening in the top of the blade for cutting fishing lines without opening the knife. http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/7564/img20...

I have two knives with an engraved CC V-number: 014V.
They are the C28CFS Dragonfly and the C29CFS Cricket, both carbonfiber.

Kristi, There can be another reason why someone didn’t receive the catalogue. Today I got a letter from the United States Postal Service with in it half an envelope. Because the stamp says “received without contents at Denver, Co” I suppose it came from Spyderco. I hope someone else had fun with it....
