Starting around the $250 range at least for roof prism binoculars you can find "phase coated optics". I have a Pentax WP 8x42 set and the clarity and the brightness is amazing, even compared to glasses with the same exit pupil.

I don't think I've responded to any of crahen's polls, but I sure have enjoyed them. I think this would be a much less interesting place without them.

This is an official suck up. I don't work for crahen, but having someone on your side who talks that much can't hurt! :)

Path Dependent Appreciation

A few weeks ago, I received my Manix PE. I could tell it was a nice knife, but I couldn't get my head around it. It opens well, makes a cool sound, and it's very smooth. But I had some vague, fuzzy reservations. It just didn't seem like what I expected. Friday, I received my Para-Military CE. What a...

Simona,

What city is in the photo in #127? The one with the Shabaria silhouette.

According to eBay, they won't send you any notice on your account without addressing you by name. Not an email address, but your first and last name.

I too think it's a scam.

With the tip down, it seems like the only natural way to draw is from behind the knife. With tip up carry, when I draw, I reach down from in front of the knife with my palm facing back. The knife being at the back of the pocket helps, both because I know where it is and because it won't move when I ...

Very good! Don't relax too much yet though. I spent years leaning into clouds of smoke just for the smell. When I decided that I wanted to quit, it took several tries. Once I quit for more than a year before I lost my way. The final solution was to bet a friend (an honorable friend) $100 that he wou...
