Re: K390 PM2 | Testing
Good chance that REX45 will outperform this due to the higher hardness... I was actually wondering about this and what experienced users of both steels have seen. I don't cut enough to have noticed any difference, and the only K390 I have is a lightly used Urban. I'm guessing 65-66 hrc Rex 45 would...

Re: K390 PM2 | Testing
In Pete's test (Cedric and Ada Outdoors) Maxamet beat K390 by a considerable margin, and both were way ahead of CPM REX 45. Steve's test was with an abnormally soft Maxamet knife. I think Maxamet at that hardness could definitely beat k390 by a little bit, IF, that was the hardness a skilled blades...

Re: Shaman question & new to the forum
Most knives become "drop shutty" after some use. Some it may take a month, some a day or so. I prefer mine stiff, yet flickable. I usually have to loctite the pivot screw to keep it how I want it, but some remain somewhat stiff from the factory over time. My advice is always to lube the pi...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
Complete opposite for me. Having handled lefty Militarys I can say the cutout hinders ergonomics for me. You know, I thought about this statement just now, and i want people to test these 2 grips: https://i.postimg.cc/bNp85PVy/20191122-063405.jpg VERSUS https://i.postimg.cc/V6kng2yD/20191122-063415...

S30V
It'll be another week until I start carrying 4V and k390, I'm not letting those rust when I'm at the beach.

Re: More 4V anyone?
What exactly would 4V give me that is enough improvement over M4 and Rex 45 (both of which I have) to justify buying it? For folder use improved toughness is not a determining factor for me, as the others I mentioned are fine in that regard. Toughness without sacrificing strength. Probably more edg...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
I personally like the comp lock. It's not my favorite, but I like it. Us forumites may be on the fence regarding the comp lock as a whole, but I believe it is very well received by the general public. I believe this new model will be a big seller that may need multiple runs.

Re: Discussion: What do you think is the best size for an EDC folder?
Totally depends. I prefer a 4 inch blade. 3.5 to 4.75 is great. It can be smaller than 3.5 if there's no choil.

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
OK... this is big. Who here thinks the groove in the military to provide access to the liner (lock) is a crucial aspect to the ergonomical success of the military??? WILL the military 2 contain this finger groove even if it has a comp lock? https://i.postimg.cc/SsDPS89J/20191118-185240.jpg https://...

Re: Going against the grain
I like big blades, I like titanium, I like pakkawood, I'm not obsessed with weight reduction, I like strong/robust construction/hardware, I think pivot washers should be larger when possible, I feel the pm2's ergonomics are lacking, I don't like FRN, I don't like combo edges, hardness is a key facto...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
Interesting, guys! This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me or anything. I wouldn't mind what is virtually a pm2 XL, but I certainly like the finger groove when using the choil and thumb ramp simultaneously. I'm interested to hear more yay's or nay's on the finger groove/cutout.

Re: More 4V anyone?
Spyderco is killing it on the 4v. I have one of the 4v Shamans, and it has been performing incredibly well. Great edge retention and edge stability. I had it tested in our QC lab today, and it hit 65.2! I saw the Para 3 models were 64+, and they didn't hold back on these either. That's awesome! Tha...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
Pelagic, isn't that a great way to accidentally disengage the linerlock? Or are you not worried about it because of your grip on the choil? I think the relief for the liner lock is unnecessary with the comp lock, but a new one would be added to the backside to accommodate the comp lock. No, if anyt...

The Endura tip has always been pointy enough for my needs, plenty of penetrating power.
