Re: Street Beat Discussion

I was thinking on it today, and I think an unclad Hap40 Street Beat would be pretty awesome. Either handle (or both) and I'll buy a pair of 'em regardless. Although if they go with the FRN maybe they could make it dark blue or something?

Re: Reveal 4, What's your favorite release?

So it reads to me like the K390 Ladybug is NOT a sprint and the blue K390 Seki models will reside alongside the other production models in the way the BRG ZDP-189 models have done for years. Perhaps ZDP will be phased out in favor of K390? Hoping to see the Delica, Endela, Dragonfly, and Jester get...

It would have to be a Japanese steel. This maker has not worked with other steels.
In that case, I'll go with one of my earlier recommendations of unclad SuperBlue. Or maybe YXR7 - I don't know if Spyderco has used that in anything before, but I think it's a Japanese steel.

Re: Street Beat Discussion

I actually handled a Street Beat LW in person the other day, and I must say that all of my misgivings about the handle (compared to the micarta of the original) went out the window. I loved it, and I'm definitely planning on picking one up soon. Heck, maybe tomorrow. With that said, I'd be fine if a...

Re: Super Blue

Is love to see a monometal Delica in Superblue. I'd also love to have a Para 3 in SB - even though I know that's far-fetched.

Re: Millies and PM2 upcoming in 2020?

I don't care about PM2s, but I definitely want more Millies!

I hope Knifecenter does a run of their Cruwear with smooth black G10. I'd like to see a 4v Millie from St. Nicks. I hope Bento does one in their Ranger Green K390. I'd like to see a CruCarta one as well.

Re: What is your Last Spydie of the year before price hikes in 2020?

I bought an Aqua Salt SE and a G10 Police 4. I may or may not order an Ikuchi and Waterway later this evening if I remember and can find them in stock somewhere.

Re: New Damascus models in 2020?

You could probably feel the different layers with your fingertips. I have a Damascus Stretch, and I can noticeably feel the layers. However, I scratched the blade pretty badly and re-etched it to fix my mistake, so I'm quite sure that contributes to mine. Regardless, I think I was able to feel the l...

I'd love to see this come back in Micarta - either polished, like the original, or left textured.
Unclad HAP40?
I'd be in for a couple.

Re: Street Beat Discussion

Sal,

My preference for a new SB (production or sprint) would be to have a tool steel like K390 with a micarta handle. I would't mind a grippy texture on the handle, but I'd prefer it to be smooth micarta just like the original SB.

Mine arrived today. It's awesome. Now they just need to make the Para 3 LW in this exact configuration.

Re: Street Beat Discussion

Ooh you know what else would be nice? A Street Beat in solid, unclad Superblue with a micarta handle. Since that's highly unlikely, I'd also say 52100 would be welcome too.

Re: Street Beat Discussion

You and me both. My favorite fixed blade to carry before I got the SB was my Izula 2. Comparing it to the SB, the thing I miss most is getting to watch a patina develop. On the other hand, the current version is nice for times you get caught in a downpour while hiking. I made an ebay accont to watc...

Re: Street Beat Discussion

I've handled them both and while I like the looks of the original better, I prefer using the FRN version. You're missing out! I'd love it if we could get a carbon steel micarta scaled sprint with all the updates of the FRN version. Dang it, Vivi. You're going to finally get me to try the FRN versio...

I would love to see the Lil'Matriarch come back as a SE Salt in H1, but give it an emerson opener, too, please.
