Re: Crucible 60 NiTiNOL

Nitinol has some very special properties. Including changing shape when reheated. Even at temps as low as 98°. That’s why it’s used in cardiac stents. Might be a problem in a knife blade? Search Wikipedia for more info. (Sorry I couldn’t figure how to paste a link)

More wire clips. A Michael Walker (C 22), Shaman in S 90 V, Military in SPY 27 or S 45 VN. A sprint run of the Smock in an upgraded steel.

Re: Lil Manix

I have 2 Manixes a LW and a second that had the swirly brown and black slabs with a big void in them that I swapped some aluminum scales onto. Neither was especially stiff at any time that I recall. Certainly the scale swap one was never difficult to operate. That said I would love a mini with a wir...

Re: lockstick - my thoughts and your facts or theories

Has anyone tried voiding there warranty by disassembling their knife and polishing the lockface? That seems like it would work. ( I’m joking ). If you do have lockstick can you send it to Spyderco?

Re: Maxamet: Odd behavior. Ideas? Sal?

Can you obtain another piece of the material? You could cut it and see if you have similar marks on the bevel. If you do then they should come off by cleaning or wiping on a rag.

Re: Buy a blurple PM2 now, or wait for the 2020 releases?

I carry my blurple PM 2 more than my Coyote S35 VN model if that helps. If you really want to try one of the new steels I would wait, but you won’t regret the blurple one. It’s an outstanding design and steel. Considering the S110 V, I think Spydies with that steel represent excellent value.

Re: Does dust cause rust??

I live in a very humid environment (Gulf Coast) but my knives spend their time in a temp and humidity controlled space. My house that is. I clean my knives periodically and have not had any rust problems. I don’t blow them clean weekly by any means but I might if I worked outside or had the knives i...

Re: CBN vs Daimond SM rods?

Guys, if I buy the standard Sharpmaker set, do I need additional rods to take to get the knife to sharp? I mean those CBN/diamonds and ultra fine. Also, is the honing board with compounds needed additional to previous? I need to get a good sharpener, as I have 30+ folders in different steels and on...

Re: CBN vs Daimond SM rods?

You can add the additional stones later. You don’t have to have them. The stones that are in the Sharpmaker are sufficient for most uses. If you need to repair or reprofile you would add Diamond or CBN. The rods will last a long time if you use light pressure. Maybe decades but many years certainly....

Re: CBN vs Daimond SM rods?

I have several sharpening devices but I only use the Sharpmaker now since I bought it. Perhaps it’s most important characteristic is ease of use. I don’t have the ability to freehand on a stone and get good results in a short time. With the Sharpmaker I can. I have the Diamond stones and medium, fin...
