Re: Used Military questions
Thanks to both of you. I can see Spyderco CQI at work having an early and recent model of the same knife. It’s very cool to me that someone saved the box and I wound up with the right one. I save all my knife boxes. Don’t really know why.

Re: Used Military questions
Here’s a pic of the back spacer. How long were Military’s made with these? Also is LI for the date September of 2012? Someone please answer. I’m super curious!

Re: Used Military questions
Here’s a pic of the two knives showing the difference in lanyard holes and standoff’s. Is the plain knife typical of earlier titanium Millies?

Re: manix v. paramilitary
Have both, like both. Leaf shaped blade and CBBL for the win. Prefer S35VN and S110V to BD1 though so I have been carrying the PM 2’s more lately. I do like that the Manix is a better one hand open and close for me.

Re: "The one"
I’m too fickle. There will never be “one”. Having said that I love the big folders the most. Manix, PM 2 and Military in my collection.

Used Military questions
I know someone on the forum can help me with a question or two about my new (to me) purchase. Just bought a Military second hand from New Graham knives. To my surprise and delight it came in a box. The knife is a Titanium Millie with S30V blade. I don’t see a steel lockface insert on the RIL. The bo...

Re: How can I turn a folding knife into a fixed blade knife?
1) Opinel knives have a ring which rotates around the knife and keeps the blade from closing but isn’t a lock in my opinion so you could retrofit something like that to an existing knife. 2) Remove blade from existing knife handle liners etc. Cut a slot in bar stock and weld, then pin blade into one...

Re: Is the Ladybug worth it?
I like mine it’s a CountyComm exclusive with in orange with H1 steel. I’d go with ZDP if it was available. I have 2 Spydies in that steel and it’s awesome.

I think that’s a Gayle Bradley 2 mini. I would like to see some collaborations in smaller sizes too.

Re: New Member and some questions!
I have used Rust Free from AG Russell and White Lightning chain lube ( available at bike shops) to protect non-stainless steels. Tuff cloth works too. I sharpen with a Sharpmaker and I believe the diamond rods are the way to go for an edge in bad shape, I also have all 3 grades of ceramic for the Sh...

Re: When an upgrade fails-military content
When Massdrop has a “blue box” you pay for an item, but a small number of folks get an “upgrade”. Kind of like a raffle but you get at least something worth what you pay in. I got a Native 5 with G 10 instead of FRN that way recently. I wish I’d gotten a blacked out Military instead.

Re: Spydie Talk: Q&A, random info, knife chat
I believe the most underrated Spydie might be the Manix 2 LW in BD 1. Light, strong, true one handed open and close, easy to maintain. It’s light as a small knife has that long slicey cutting edge but doesn’t have the fans that the Millie and PM 2 have. BD 1 if you haven’t tried it is excellent. I b...

Re: Spyderco civilian why not EDC?
I think it would make an Okay EDC, but might result in raised eyebrows among non-knife people. I also think there’s plenty of EDC choices in more conventional blade shapes that you’re not going to have to remember to be careful of the tip while you’re using it. If you do decide to EDC the Civilian i...

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?
I usually carry 2. I rotate a fluted Ti Millie, Pm 2 (S 35VN or S110 V), Spydiechef, Manix 2 LW. Those are back pocket carry. In the watch pocket or right front is a second knife. DF 2 (ZDP 189) or a Chaparral. Sometimes just a Sage 5 or Positron in right front. I can’t commit to one.

Re: Which PM2?: S30V/S35VN or S110V or M390
I have 2 PM 2’s in S35 VN and S110 V. My comments reflect my experience. Unless you’re in a very humid environment. Like in or around salt water I’m pretty sure the difference in corrosion difference is insignificant among the stainless options here. S35 VN and S110V are not hugely different in term...
