Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread
We've been using 12C27 for the Grasshopper for a few years. We recently established a relationship with B.U. so you will see more of their steels down the pike.
Hey Toucan,
If I were to try GCr15 in China, I'd probably try it with the Polestar.

This is awesome, and no other knife company would attempt it. Just another glaring example of what makes Spyderco different from all the other major knife companies out there. I look forward to following this project!

Re: Tough and Economical Carbon Steel for the Value Folder Lineup?
14c28n or bd1n would be my suggestion for the value line. They're more well rounded steels, but carbon steels are still a lot of fun, and could still make sense. 52100 still being held as a sprint worthy steel, I'd doubt we'd see that. But something like 1095 or sk5 would still be cool, and preferab...

Re: MT32P - SRS13/SUS405 Mule Team - Release Date
SRS13! That's a hot one. Been interested in the SRS steels for a while. It's composition is CRUWEAR esque, a little more carbon, a little more chromium, and trades some vanadium for molybdenum. Should be very interesting to see how it compares to CRUWEAR in use and in sharpening. Will probably yield...

Re: CPM MagnaCut | Edge Performance
I think it's fair to say the majority of Spyderco's consumer base value edge retention above, or on par with corrosion resistance. Toughness would probably be third. But, what many of those consumers may not realize is edge retention isn't solely based on wear resistance. Edge stability plays a huge...

Re: Caly 3.5 Light Weight: Any News?
After handling my fair share of Spyderco FRN models, I am pretty firmly in the linerless camp. The weight reduction, and the improved balance makes me reach for my linerless models much more often. Handle is still plenty rigid. There are certain models where liners make sense, but for edc knives, I ...

Re: Manually Thinning K390?
Yea, diamond plates will work. Thinning the entire blade will take a long long time. Apply pressure towards the edge bevel for more immediate results.

Re: Merry Christmas Sal , Eric and Spyderco
What a nice sentiment. As far as business owners go in our modern profit driven capitalist society go, the Glessers are some of the best around. Not many companies are worthy of Merry Christmas's from their customers. Spyderco is.

Re: LeafJumper
Hi Kennethsime, We will see a Leaf-Jumper as well. It's on the works. We're doing a lot more gambling in that we're making FRN tooling without the slab scale test version. The costs have gotten too high on the slab scaled pilots and it doesn't tell us what we need to know as a test if we don't sell...

Re: BD1N toughness
BD1N was 8.3 ft-lbs at 59.2 Rc. Several days worth of work, just for one sentence. I don't think folks understand how much work goes into this. We're just going to ignore this comment? I am not a member of this class of high level, huge dedication, forgers and physicists of the knife community, but...

The Caly series was out of favor by the time I came around. I'm dying for some Caly sprints. Ive come close to buying the zdp CF 3.5 a few times but it's not quite for me.
