Re: The legend of the adjustable, rotating stop pin

Mate I remember the same concept but am as vague on details as you. I think the issue is mostly solved with the way Spyderco handles the blade lock face on liner and compression locks. There is a fair bit of room for wear over time

Too course. Generally, a straight razor is sharpened at .1µ or so. However, I could see Spyderco offering stones like that.
Is there never a need to hone a straight razor or do folks just strop in perpetuity?

Hi Buck.

Welcome to our forum.

The harpy was designed to repair large fishnets by cutting out the damaged section so it could be replaced with a patch.

The Civilian was designed to be a self defense weapon for undercover DEA officers.

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco

I have no interest in one personally but I imagine a straight razor and Spydercos sintered ceramic benchstones would go together like two peas in a pod.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Re edge stability of SE vs PE at the same angle, I tend to agree that overall we should see more stability with SE but the stability will vary along the length of each scallop. We should see maximum stability toward each 'end' of the scallop or 'hill' of each scallop as it gets meatier and less and ...

Re: With all the knowledge on edge geometry out there, why are factory edges still so common?

I think theres a decent percentage of folks who likely never use their knives hard enough to even notice the performance gains of a super steel over say, VG10 or a 12dps vs 20dps edge. Thats not a knock on people, I go through stages of my life where I wouldnt notice the difference myself. Those ...

The Para 2 is one of Spydercos enduring patterns, I can't see it going out of fashion any time soon. There are nearly endless options for variation that will keep it popular

No real sins for me. Your knife, do what you want with it.

I’ve seen some cringy things people do with their knives though. Sharpening serrations out by treating it like a plain edge comes to mind.

Re: Advice requested on some Rosewood Shaman scale damage

1- Remove damaged scale
2- trim small piece of cardboard to fit in the lockbar recess in scale. Cut it to fit snug so it’s butted up tight against damaged section of scale.
3- mix resin, colour tint if desired, keep mixing slowly and allow it to start going off a bit so nice and viscous.
4- apply ...

Re: Advice requested on some Rosewood Shaman scale damage

That damage is small enough you could build it to the original shape with resin. You could even tint the resin to colour match if you wanted to. How much does it bother you?

Re: Para 3 lw

I never warmed to my Para 3 LW. My initial impression was great and if it weren’t for a few issues with it I’m sure I’d like it more. Mine has bad detent slop in the closed position, when the wire clip isn’t requiring bending, despite being loctited, the screw for it is coming loose.

Lots to love ...
