Re: Tax day MAP sale!
It may have seemed this MAP holiday had less selection than previous ones, but for me I think it was the best one yet. I managed to pick these three up for an average of 51% off MSRP. I’m especially liking the Stretch XL, being a big fan of the Stretch and Pacific Salt. https://i.imgur.com/3o1qiht.j...

The deepest discount of the sale I think at 69% off MSRP. Did it end up being H1 or H2 steel?WilliamMunny wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:58 pmJust got my Pacific Salt 2 SE from BHQ. Very happy I jumped on it, that is a ton of awesome knife for $40.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
What is meant by RA surface exactly? I recall hearing Sal state at some point that the fine/ultra-fine is the exact same stone but one gets surface finished to a fine surface. Ra is one of a number of metrics to quantify surface roughness, as defined in ISO 21920. Essentially it is the average of t...

Re: Spyderco 2024 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
Interesting that the black blade C101PJGRBK2 appears to be screwed construction whereas IIRC the satin blade C101PJGR2 was pinned.

Re: Does anyone 3D print scales or accessories?
Injection molding isn’t an additive manufacturing process and is even more out of reach to amateur makers than forging or stock removal. Injection molding is absolutely additive and it’s not that out of reach. Some of older TheCrafsman videos on YouTube show some pretty low end production of molds....

Re: Science of sharp 15v analysis
What did you think about the images? The images are excellent as usual from Science of Sharp. Always particularly interesting to me is the sectioning of the edge by focused ion beam, and more recently the elemental analysis by EDS. This photo set and its subject steel might be the most captivating ...

Re: Janisong not available in US?
It is restricted from being imported due to the Federal Switchblade Act of 1958. Until that law changes, or unless production is moved to Golden, I don't think it will be for sale in the US.

Re: Crucarta Manix 2
There was also the smooth carbon fiber, satin blade exclusive from I believe knifecenter around 2016. Neat, I either forgot completely about that one or missed it altogether. I’ve seen a few of the gray G10 on the secondary market but not the smooth CF I don’t believe. I have the Crucarta Shaman an...
