jd smith question

hi, i have a jd smith model with a ats34 blade and #491 stamped on the blade. i have noticed that they switched to vg10 for the currant models. does anyone know the production numbers for the first run. thanks,greg

sharpening advice

i was wondering what angle is good for general purpose use. i keep my military and standard at 25 degrees and my jd smith at 20 degrees.i am using a lanskey system so i am limited to the holes in the guide. thanks a bunch. thegreg

sharpening cpm440v knives

hi, when i sharpen my military model it seems to take a lot longer the some of my other knives. i am using a lanskey system and go all the way to the 1000 grit extra fine stone. it holdes the edge great but takes a lot more time to sharpen. thanks, thegreg

you could try knifecenter.com they normaly have it in stock and are good to deal with. i live in the area and was there last night to pick up a j.d.smith model. good luck

hi i just picked up a jd smith last night and was wondering if it is a old or new model. the blade is ats-34 and is made in seki-city.
