Re: Sharpmaker rod maintenance

Oxalic Acid is the magic ingredient in BKF, that isn't found in comet, or ajax iirc

So if you cannot find BKF you can try ZUD, or just type Oxalic Acid on amazon and get the stronger version in a 2 lb bag. Just wear gloves with the stronger version and have good ventilation.

Re: Newbie with knife steel question...

Hi Constructor, I think you're going to love the PM2 Model. Now it's just a matter of deciding on a steel. As Ferider and others have echoed M390, 20CV, and 204P are all pretty much the same steel from different foundry's. The Bento Box blue M390 is what I chose for that use years ago, in the hot an...

Re: Bento Box Something Something....

Although I already had this steel in the police model, much prefer the compression lock over the back lock. Had to cave and grab it. Doesn't look like these are as appealing to the flippers (lower profit margins), thank God! So for users that love the PM2, this is a premium catch, and available for ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I have narrowed down my next purchase to one of two stone sets. The Vanev Bonded ( With new bonding agent that is not so hard that the finer grits fail to perform) 8 inch Splash and go double sided 3 stone set that Michael Christy reviewed with both Hap 40 and S90V Spyderco's. The second set is the...

Hey Sal,
Did Masahiro buy Daido? or Vice versa? Asking because Zvi's steel database has it listed as Masahiro, and if it's incorrect I want to shoot him that correction.

Re: Re-release of the Spyderco Story book?

I was able to download a DJVU file of it (similar to PDF). except you need the DJVU reader to view the book, all at this site. https://epdf.pub/the-spyderco-story-the-new-shape-of-sharp.html At least it was downloadable six months ago when I grabbed my copy. If I remember right, Seems like I had to ...

Voted "Definitely". Vivi if you design the prototype, I have a feeling more people would get onboard. Totally not trying to put you on the spot, as I do not know your CAD skills or your desire for such an endeavor. I just think if you had those skills or simply the help of someone with CAD skills, y...

Re: Swick 5 Wharnie in LC200N

This has been on my want list for roughly a year now, ever since I saw the post where Sal and Vivi were chatting it up. With Twenty years of evolution, I know Sal will nail this one, no worries there. Plus, with LC200N's Stain proof qualities, no worries there either. The area that does concern me s...

Other than a Stretch I would never trust a knife out of Seki for skinning anything. JDW, not a challenging question here. Just genuinely interested in your thoughts. Wondering what your opinion is (good, bad, or indifferent) of Seki based knives. Have you had some issues with them, or care to expou...
