Re: Stripped screw tips?
VMPVT-001-5 Mini - 5" Screw Extraction Pliers. I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Got the recommendation from a fellow on Blade Forums. The design of the jaws make it conducive on gripping very small screw heads such as the type found on folders to include Spyderco.

Why all the hoopla over REX45?
I have read 'Online' that Hap40 and Rex45 are basically the same? If true, then why all the fuss over the REX45 if there is already a similar blade steel i.e. the Hap40 that has been readily available for some time now. Am I missing something? Thanks for any replies.

Diamond Sharpmaker Stone?
Could I benefit from this stone if not used for resetting the bevel, just using it for sharpening or if you will, a step in honing? I already have the grey, fine, and ultra fine stones. I would use my Hapstone for serious Bevel Resets. I have been holding back on purchasing the Diamond Stones thinki...

Re: ZDP-189
Thanks, wow what a lot of info to digest. How susceptible is Hap40 to corrosion? I live in the Midwest so I think I would be ok? I have a Manix 2 in CPM4 that's doing fine so I think the Hap40 would also be ok in my environment.

Re: ZDP-189
Does this blade steel closely mimic the properties and performance of S-110 steel? I am looking at upgrading an older Endura and the only offering I have seen it in is S-30 and ZDP-189 Thanks for any replies. Check out Michael Christy's video comparing Hap40 and ZDP-189. They're relatively similar ...

Re: ZDP-189
Do you mean S110V and S30V? I thought the Endura has never been produced with S30V, but I might be mistaken. With regard to ZDP-189 vs S110V, they are both on the harder to sharpen end of the spectrum due to carbide volume, but I've maintained both steels without diamond or CBN, it just takes longe...

Re: CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
I wouldn't say the SM has limitations, aside from only two angle slots even that can be changed if you're creative. With diamond or CBN rods you can reprofile anything, there are just much faster sharpening tools for reprofiling but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Agreed, I suppose I used the w...

Re: CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
Thanks for the tip. Right now I just have the med, fine and ultra fine stones for my Sharpmaker. So any heavy re-profiling would have to be done by other means. I could always go the Sic, CBN, Diamond Stone route for the Sharpmaker. I do also have the Hapstone v7 with the Venev Diamond stones but t...

Re: CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
I've tried reprofiling the Benchmade 810 to 30. Just a simple piece of advice: don't. Thanks for the tip. Right now I just have the med, fine and ultra fine stones for my Sharpmaker. Re: CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
As long as you don't have to re-profile, it works great. My Bradley 1 came butter knife sharp. I thought I was going to cry when I started trying to sharpen it. Definitely easier than 110, but not nearly as easy as S30V or even 204P. Yes, my Manix arrived the same way, butter knife sharp. It needs ...

CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
A lot has been mentioned about the Abilities & Limitations of the SharpMaker and it's ability to re-profile or touch an already maintained edge. What about the CPM-M4? Would you agree that it runs in the same category as the s110v? Harder or easier? I do understand that at least a diamond or cbn...

Native 5 cpm s110v, the infamous Blurple...
Hello Folks, will the Native loosen up with time like my other lock backs such as my Endura and Delica? Granted, I have had the Native for only a couple weeks now but boy is it stiff. I have been working with it and on occasion place a drop or two of oil in the blade joint. Any replies would b...

Re: Sharpmaker UF Stones
Spyderco Customer Service told me that even though Diamond as everyone knows is the hardest abrasive but as she put it, the diamond is sparsely placed on the rods in the process whereas the CBN are dense. So, I guess you can pick your poison. Hmm, I'm not sure the CBN rods are more dense. Like I sa...

Re: Sharpmaker UF Stones
I have the CBN rods for my Sharpmaker. I just gave my friend a Sharpmaker with the diamond rods and they didn't seem much different than the CBN. I've read they're very similar and I would agree. FWIW, since getting my Hapstone V7 with Venev Bonded Diamonds my CBN Sharpmaker rods just sit in a draw...
