Gin-1 Delica

I was lucky enough to recently snag a beautiful Gin-1 serrated Delica clipit. From what I can tell it has had little to no use over the years. I was hooked with a 3rd generation combo edge Delica in my younger years that unfortunately is the only knife I have ever lost. I am lucky to own a great exa...

Next Steel for Sprint Run

Any speculation on the next steel for the usually yearly Delica/endura/etc. sprint run? I am always up for a stretch. Would love to see something along the lines of k390

Re: Good Bye Stretch!

Finally got a chance to use the Vtoku2 this weekend while hunting. I am a huge fan of the original stretch and have it in all varieties. I will admit that I was initially sad to see the original stretch go as the ergonomics are excellent for me. However, for its intended purpose, the Stretch 2 bests...

Re: A11 Grade Question for Hunting Knife

Thanks for the replies. I know it will support a 30 degree primary bevel, but I really do prefer quick touch ups on the sharpmaker which would limit me to the 40 degree setting. I would prefer a 20-25 degree (10-12.5 DPS) primary bevel with a 30 degree (15 DPS) microbevel if anyone has experience wi...

Re: Show your Mule

Just finished my first mule team project with the Micromelt A11. The smaller one is for myself and larger one for my dad's birthday. They are made from osage orange and desert ironwood. After rough shaping on a belt grinder, i finished them with progressively finer sandpaper and 0000 steel wool with...

A11 Grade Question for Hunting Knife

Just finished up with my first Mule Team project in the micromelt A11. The smaller one is for myself, and the larger one is for my Dad's birthday. I purchased the steel mainly for the reported excellent performance for skinning big game from Phil Wilson's articles. As we both will typically use our ...

Re: Spyderco Reinhold Rhino Giveaway!!!

I’m in. My grandfather is the hero i would like to recognize for his service as a paratrooper in the pacific during WW2. I am named after him, and he died the same year I was born. While the war affected him greatly, his sacrifice as well as those of many others are the reason that I am privileged t...

Re: A11 Mule Feedback

Hi Skinner, Welcome to our forum. sal Thanks Sal, and thanks for making quality products. If the amount of time that it took me to grind the handle is any indication, the reshaped A11 should take care of quite a few deer and hogs at a time as intended. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rlVBuB1KjkSs...

Re: A11 Mule Feedback

Now I'm thinking about sprints with more belly for skinning and skin work. We've seen the Ouroboros, and the Parata is hopefully going to hit this year. Both have a very healthy amount of belly, but currently use a more EDC-focused steel, VG10. I'm wondering if there's any interest in, say, a maxam...

Re: A11 Mule Feedback

Hey Skinner, welcome to the forum. I don’t personally have any experience with a11 but I’ve used an m4 fixed blade that Phil made me quite a bit for heavy fish processing work. I really like the steel and I pushed it especially hard to see if the thin edge would hold up on heavy spines and rib bone...

Re: A11 Mule Feedback

I have not done any skinning with them, but honestly my Maxamet and A11 Mules both seem to hold an edge the same--that is to say practically forever. That is great news. Looking forward to some field work next season, but I am also looking forward to what I am sure will be a challenging project gri...
