Finger choil is mandatory for me. I was totally fine with a Delica for about 2 years, then I made this mistake of handling a knife with a finger choil, and suddenly my Delica felt pointless in my hands. Now all of my knives have finger choils.

I think one issue is people trying to solve things which they assume are problems only because they haven't handled them accordingly enough.

If you like a choil, go with the Chaparral.
If you prefer to hammer grip and keep your fingers away from the blade, go with the Delica.
