Re: The First Pig-Human Kidney Transplant

They have successfully grown human organs in pigs, and even ears. I hope this turns out to be a good thing for everyone concerned. It could save a lot of lives. Now, if the government would get control of the insurance companies and the way charges are done, perhaps it wouldn't cost so much. I was ...

Re: The Days of the Milkman May Be Numbered!

Milk in paper cartons is better. However, I buy Fernleaf powdered milk. It tastes just like bottled milk and dissolves in cold water. It is a New Zealand product. I understand that the same brand in the UK isn't nearly as good because UK laws mandate using only UK cow milk. The NZ cow milk is much ...

Re: The First Pig-Human Kidney Transplant

Wow, they only last so long... That is not a fun thought. One of my younger brothers needed open heart surgery, he was born with a hole in his heart the size of a nickel. Very stressful time, but they put a patch over the hole and said it was good for life. I would have a hard time thinking about n...

Protecting Our Allies

China was ruled against by The Court at The Hague regarding their 9-Dash Line. Nonetheless they ignore the ruling and attack the Philippines on a regular basis over islands close to the Philippines. China and Russia harass Japan. Chinese people have been going to Guam, which has a huge US Military p...

Re: The First Pig-Human Kidney Transplant

Interesting, so the practice is not entirely new. Well, I can certainly say that I hope it does develop into a safe, effective solution that can help so many people. I'm no thoracic or heart surgeon but I think that I can only have 2 to 3 new valves and then I need a new heart. I received a tissue ...

Re: The Days of the Milkman May Be Numbered!

Is paper better, or do they usually coat those in plastic anyway? I don't know exactly what they coat paper in to make it able to hold liquid. Plastic coatings on the paper cartons. Seriously though, most of the info about this plastic stuff is on known conspiracy theory and activist websites. So t...

All of the coatings and toxins are bad news.

Now they are saying that a lot of the fish we eat has PFAS in them. PFAS are manmade poisons!

Re: The First Pig-Human Kidney Transplant

Well I guess we'll see if it doesn't cause any issues down the road for that patient. Some problems might not surface until some time after the transplant. This idea is partially interesting and partially, I don't know, disconcerting? I guess I just worry that every new biological innovation might ...

The Days of the Milkman May Be Numbered!

We were buying our 2% milk in gallon plastic containers but after reading about microplastics looked for a way out. We currently get home delivery of milk in glass bottles from Oberweis Dairy every Wednesday morning at around 4AM. We signed up for the delivery less than 2 months ago as we were tryin...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades

There are as many self defense blade designs and blades used for self defense as there are self defense theories and scenarios.

For self defense I have been carrying up to 3 knives: a neck knife, a fixed blade and a folder.

I am never without my Spyderco Native Chief on S90V.
