Re: Surprised at what I am carrying, nowadays

Au contraire. I got rid of my EDC, which was a a 4 inch Bradford in M390 for a Spyderco Native Chief. The Native Chief has a better profile for thrusts and I carry for self defence. Small knives just don't cut it for self defence. When mid to late Winter settles in and I need to penetrate Winter coa...

Re: Boltaron sheath belt size

Doh! I am not looking at my Boltoron Sheath at the moment. My belts must be 1.5 inches in height, but I do plan on getting a military belt next and it may be a 2 inch height belt. I'll be carrying some of these knives this Winter, so what I am going to do is go to BladeTech and get a TeK-Lok. Having...

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Interesting info on Mas Oyama. I'd rather have the onsite training than a belt or sheet of paper. I'd rather be able to save my life or someone elses than anything else. OFF TOPIC: My spinal column is messed up with pretty severe spinal stenosis. This came out of nowhere with no sign that this was ...

Re: Libre, Piper, and MBC

What I understand of Piper, it was created in South Africa and based around the types of knife attacks that occur there. It may be that Piper is great answer for THAT particular problem? Could be lore as well? It references the criminal element in SA being very blade centric Does not surprise me on...

Re: poll: preference of production or exclusives/sprints?

I chose production because I have to save for each knife. I rarely have the cash available for something, and then POP, I need to come up with the cash immediately. I miss out on knives like exclusives all of the time because a month later they are out of stock.

Re: Went all in on S110V

I have the Military in S110V and I bought a kydex sheath for it that deploys the blade as you draw the knife! The guys business name is Black Bear Custom Kydex Sheaths if you're interested.

Re: Libre, Piper, and MBC

I buy as many DVDs of renown martial arts as I can. If they're weird that's fine as long as I think the concept will allow me to win. They all have some benefit and most of them suffer from the same faults. One thing that is common to most escrima, arnis, kali is that the instructor is practising o...

Re: Libre, Piper, and MBC

I bought 1/2 the training system of Libre. Going to look more deeply in to it and see what I can borrow. If it looks good, I'll buy the rest of the videos.

Re: My Martial Arts Video Collection

This week I purchased 12 DVD GM Darren Tibon series(Cabales System), and the Libre Knife Fighting series. I'll have a solid foundation on the Cabales System or Serrada Escrima.

I have other DVDs and probably 250 more download videos but posting all of the titles would be insane.

Re: Training MBC with a BOB

I've seen several practitioners with BOBs that were taped and bolted together. Kali Center - Paul Ingram, is one of the guys I am speaking of. There are better bags for using a weapon on, but the weapon that you want to use is rattan with the tip taped or a dull piece of aluminum(aluminum blanks sha...

Re: Inflation - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Allegedly 35% plus of all the truckers are refusing to go get the jab. Of course that number will not hold when they are staring dismissal from work but there is a mandate and if even 5% of the truckers say no and retire, there will be more delays and inflation.

Re: Gonna go out on a limb here…

I don't own a wide variety of Spyderco folders, so I really cannot say what the best of the bunch is but I'm loving the 6 - Native Chiefs that I have. Almost exactly what he said. I ONLY have 4 Chiefs. For me, this is the finest folding knife that I can buy. Excellent steels and good handles. Year ...

Re: Why would one want to become a Correctional officer

I've trained in escrima/arnis with guys that held a variety of jobs in policing and corrections. My brother just retired from the Chicago Police Dept with almost 30 years on. I chatted with one of the corrections guys after training over a beer and the charcoal black rings around his eyes prompted m...
