Re: thoughts on a Spyderco Machete

I made 10 Kukhris years ago, maybe for Sal's perusal... BUT, you can buy cheap machetes and kukhris, and Spyderco's manufacture might make the price a tad more for such a simple object. I have two other knives in Spyderco's queue, if ever that they decide to make them, so I gave a few kukhris away, ...

Re: Autism awareness knife?

Here's a thing...

Spyderco cannot support ALL the health and mental societies..........we can actually donate to the charity or health awareness society with our own money at any time. As often as we want. When we want, As much or as little as we want...

Just saying... :cheap-sunglasses

What Sal says...

What might help is to put a black marker pen mark on the edge as it exists.
When you remove metal, the black marker worn away will tell you where the steel is removed.

Re: yojimbo trainers

Funny thing is, I traced my Yo2 a few months ago and made up some Pakkawood scales. Then a Pakkawood blade but with a big disc of Milliput putty on the tip. Pivot pin at blade pivot point of the blade, and another pivot pin at the rear of the scales. Small neobium magnet at the rear of the blade whe...

Re: Getting Full Value from Your Blade Length

My main EDC for a long time now has been the Yojimbo, but before that was the Tenacious. If I go to a place where edges are frowned upon, the Tennie is my EDC. The reason is the length of edge, and the handle comfort second. The steel type is merely an academic exercise anyway. ( sorry to the supers...

Re: Browsing through the product guide: The two middle ground models that are still missing imo

I know it will never happen, but the original Worker in black FRN would be nice. FRN molds for the Delica or suchlike might be close enough? Call it the De-Worker? Problem is that folk will want a gazillion choices of color, and steel types that have not been invented yet, and assorted blade profile...

Yojimbo 2 as utility, and food prep, as whatever grabs my attention.

The tip is still there, and the song remains the same.

Sal has a fixed blade of mine in a drawer somewhere, Butterscotch G10 scales and a smaller profile from what I have submitted before, but there is a loooooong list.

Geometry decides ease of cutting...

Steel type AND HT decides length of cutting time...

Micro-serrations type and size decides the aggression...

I am honoured that you chose a Sustain to be a gift to your nephew!

You are a wise man to include a lot of info about metallurgy, safety and piece of mind, especially when dealing with the laws of the land.

The Probe was always one I regret the most about passing on a new one in Barry's Blades in Durban South Africa... It cost twice what an FRN Endura cost at the time... I might source a second hand Salt blade of some sort and make one for me... :) I have Ti plate, so the rust problem should be negliab...
