Re: Let's take a look inside my Police 4

Some days ago I disassemble my Chief and there was some very minor corrosion on the backspacer. And that is linerless G10 and my screws are locktited..... Corrosion is a bit weird. Last year I made an experiment with my students and we had nails in different environments. The biggest surprised was ...

CF would be a cost thing.
Micarta is tough, and hard to work with by hand when finishing it off, but it is my favourite scale material.

Joe
It would be Micarta as it is grippy when wet, unlike G10.
The profile is just that, a profile...
One will be PE and the other...SE, hand-filed. :)

JD
PE as designed, but serrated can be done by filing with two sizes of chainsaw files before HT, if required.

Re: Now's The Time: For A New Style Of Hawkbill

My sheathing system works for curved edges like an open blade Civilian in a SOB sheath.
I am using D2, because I have some, not because it is my first choice.

Anyway, I am expermenting, so in due course, I will show a pic or two.

Re: is it possible to dye or remove dye from FRN scales

I found a few pages about using hydrogen peroxide, as I use it to bleach bone.
Zytel / FRN does not like long contact with HP, so experiment with an old piece?

Use at your own risk?

Re: Spyderco coffee mug

I have a pic somehwere of Sal with a blue coffee cup with golden spidies... He explained that it is a time consuming and costly exercise to do large enough numbers, or something like that, and then he has to sell them. The time is better spent designing and making steel edgewares. I would join the q...

Never owned a Cricket, but I have handled one.

A FRN version might be a good idea.
Limited sales, i am guessing, though?

Re: Updated Dive Probe / Assist Salt hybrid?

I saw one in a knife shop years ago, and I just could not afford it. Then about five years ago, I saw one for sale on the Interwebs... I had a car problem, and the sale was never completed. Somewhere along the line, I hope to get one. I have titanium and a spare UKPK blade, and Ti screws, so I might...

Serrate 420 steel and use it as a yachting knife, and it might not be too bad.
