Perhaps some factory edges are more obtuse than your Sharpmaker rod settings. Switch from the 30° inclusive setting to the 40° setting. My Endura in VToku loses its edge quickly. Others with better credentials have also noticed this. Your mileage may differ.

I just learned about this knife during a period of insomnia. It's small and a slicer with one of the best steels available. I will order it Monday.
