Factory Thread Locker on G10?

My BNIB Manix 2 Backlock arrived........Yippee :) So, I removed the pocket clip, to move it to the opposite end, as the factory position didn't suit me. At first, I thought the torque pressure of the flange portion of the clip, had flattened the "points" of the textured G10, due to the are...

Re: Blade Steels..... Does It Really Matter?

I'm disappointed that my VG-10 Delica4 FFG does not hold an edge any longer than my "vintage" USA made Gerber FFG folders. I believe they are 420HC, but I'm not sure. I just bought a Manix 2 Mid Backlock, so I'm hoping that the S30V is as good as I've heard it is.

Re: Delica 4 Impressons By A Spyderco Newbie

Personally, I wish the pocket clip was not black, as the coating is coming off of the edges of mine, simply from the friction of cotton. I will be stripping, and polishing it. Being a backlock, I'm not sure that Spyderco intended anything other than the thumb to be used for one hand opening. I was ...

Re: Delica 4 Impressons By A Spyderco Newbie

Regarding the price increase: With China having a recent industrial boom, they have put a giant demand on the world's steel supply, therefore, steel prices have gone up world wide. Personally, I wish the pocket clip was not black, as the coating is coming off of the edges of mine, simply from the f...

Re: Sharpening advice

Since getting into Spyderco's "small" full flat grind blades, I have switched to diamond paste for stropping. I use it on the smooth side (outside) of the leather. There are many Micron sizes available, so it's easy to tweak to get your desired results. I have turned into a stropaholic :)

Sal, Can you sway U.S.A. Dealers?

Sal, Please read, and hopefully you can help the cause. I inquired about buying a Spyderco Delica 4 Zome S30V, from a U.S.A. dealer: Me: ---- "Hello, I have done a lot of research, and I’m confident that Canada Customs will allow this knife to come through their system, because of it’s locking ...

Manix II G10 Lockback.........yipee, yahoo!!!!! I didn't even know they existed, until last week :) it's a great knife!! That great to hear!! I bought an excellent used LW in S110V, but the lock was a pain for me, due to arthritis. Looks like I'll be a lockback guy for the rest of my days :)

Re: Please Support This Cause

There are a couple of organizations working on it now. Knife Rights and AKTI. sal Unfortunately, Sal, just like the NRA, American organizations have no influence on what's happening in Canada, from a political standpoint. If they are putting on a drive to ask the U.S.A. knife community to contribut...

Sprint Run Knives In Canada

I just learned that Sprint run means limited edition.

Do these knives ever go to Canadian dealers?

Re: Knives going out of stock in Canada?

Gsg9,

Trust me, I didn't vote for Trudeau.
If I lived close and had the funds, I would drive across that border, into the U.S.A., and buy some Spydies.

The knives are not illegal to own, just not able to get through Canada Customs. Makes a lot of sense, right?

Enjoy your Land Of The Free :)

Re: Knives going out of stock in Canada?

Stopping the import of all folding knives that can be opened with one hand, is ridiculous!!

Re: Sharpening S110V

if you're leaving a burr you can detect without specialized magnification equipment when using the ultrafine stones, something went wrong. If I can detect a burr off the mediums I keep using them until I can't, much less progressing from fine to ultrafine. Hey Vivi, I touched up three blades that w...

Re: Sharpening S110V

That's too cool, clovehitch, and by your username, your Dad clearly taught you the art of knot making, as well. For between a diamond stone, and a strop, you say I can use a ceramic stone. Does ceramic come by grit number, or simply by fine, extra fine, etc? What do you suggest is a good grit / coar...

Re: Sharpening S110V

I treat S110V no different than I do S30V and I use S110V more than any other steel and have for awhile now. Interesting / ironic...... I wanted a knife in S30V, but the Manix II lightweight was not available with that steel. So, for both steels, is the Sharpmaker suitable, without the addition of ...

Re: Sharpening S110V

I’m no expert, but my understanding is that the large amount of vanadium carbides in steels like S110v make the ceramic rods of the Sharpmaker a poor choice for sharpening. While you may be able to maintain the edge to an extent, you are really only abrading the surrounding steel matrix, while the ...
