I find it remarkable that "Youtube filmstars" have such influence.
I think it come down to what the population in general is like today, not able to sort the wheat from the chaff, quality from crap, good advice re bad, the important stuff in life versus superfluous rubbish.

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

I had minor chipping issues when I first started carrying S30V knives. The high wear resistance had me using low grit diamond stones and pressing too hard. Once I figured out what I was doing the "heat treat" improved and I had no issues any more. :) Learning to not have burrs also was an issue whe...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

Nearly 50 years of life, 35 years of fishing and hunting, 25 years of butchering and I have never chipped a knife blade. Have damaged blades many a time, but never chipped. Almost in the same boat except I have chipped a couple of skinners and / or boners, Green River or Victorinox. So rare can't r...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

Better an underperforming steel in the hands of customers you know the majority of will only be lightly using their knives is a safer bet. You got it in one. When a serious user says things (and still working out who is who), then you take more notice. The problem with Social Media is it gives ever...

Re: Think I am boycotting Knife Center

Nick Shabazz would label anything larger a "weapon of war". Tactical nail clippers ftw. :D I need a set of those lol Lol! Sorry to highjack the thread but that original post hit two of my hot buttons. Someone who labels sonething as a weapon (of war) and the other is labelling something as ‘tactica...

Re: Throwback Thursday for Spyderco's

What's interesting is the higher percentage of Serrated edges than you normally see in a list of people's knives.

Interesting and some real beauties - I've just added one to my "to buy list" and highlighted that I need
to get on and get one that was already on the list (Massad Ayoob).

Re: Throwback Thursday for Spyderco's

My 1st gen Endura, Aus 8. Purchased probably very early 90's. We need to get a sprint run of this classic please. I miss mine. The new endura isn't the same knife I prefer the old tip and molded clip. So do I. I use the molded clip against my palm. I like the longer blade of the old endura's. I pur...

Re: Army ROTC Knife

Firstly I was (and am) in Australia, secondly my unit had specific requirements - we used a lot of rope rapelling, climbing and boats / water ops (Canoes, Rigid inflatables) so a knife that ALWAYS CUT rope was recommended. Therefore I went serrated (as recommended to me). Problem with SE is sharpeni...

Re: Army ROTC Knife

Make sure you check the regulations on size before you buy. If the Caribbean is too big my second pick for a folder is the Salt 2 in black. BLUETYPEII, Would you rather have a Salt 2 in H1 or a Native Salt in LC200N? I would think the LC200N would be better, so I've been leaning toward the Native S...

I think you are an extreme user.

I doubt many would cut a 1-2 inch rope in a lifetime, let alone a 5 inch rope.

My $45 dollar Cold Steel War Hawk came with a quality blade protector Sheaf ,and my $40 dollar SOG Tomahawk Axe came with a quality nylon Sheaf.
I would complain about your cheap plastic Sheaf.
Do you mean "sheath"?
The Genzow sheath is leather.
That’s what I was trying to work out as well ?!

Re: Do Spyderco Knives Have No Flaws?

There are lots of us fanboys that love everything but I think what doesn't go over well is blatant bashing on something when 1) No contact or effort has been made to contact Spyderco to give them the chance to make it right, or 2) unrealistic expectations are clearly obviously or 3) people are obvi...

Re: A possible old gem!?

I always liked the simplicity of the molded clip but the idea that it could lose tension or even break off and I can't do anything about it really bothers me. Mine hasn't lost tension in 27+ years. Don't / haven't used it much but I have caught it occassionaly on webbing and it's still fine. As for...

Yea I’m not into the idea of stitch repairing this myself st all. Is that an option Spyderco would do. Fix the sheath ?
Ask them ? I can't see why not, everything else service wise they seem to fix and service.

Send the maintenance dept an email.
