Re: Quick question: Upcoming K390 Endura family: Sprint runs or regular production?
I reprofile all my spyders to 15dps anyway. Endura family is thinner stick than para family. I just realized that I misspoke in my post and totally misstated my point. I meant the thickness behind the edge, and I meant to say .025” but I wrote 25 deg. I edited the original post to fix this. Ya, I a...

Re: Quick question: Upcoming K390 Endura family: Sprint runs or regular production?
Question about the k390 Endura family, and sprints / other steels in this family generally. Will the blade grind be thin enough to justify the use of k390? The regular run of Endura / Delica etc. seem to have a pretty thick edge (-.025”)*, which is reasonable for VG 10 I guess, but I’d be disappoint...

Re: What would you like to see next from Byrd?
I'd like to see more CTS-BD1, and more knives coming from the factory that makes the Crow 2/Raven 2, as the work I've seen from this factory has been excellent. Specifically, I'd like a third knife in the Crow/Raven line: something about the size of the Military or a little smaller. A big, budget li...

Raven 2 vs. Paramilitary 2?
Does anyone have both the Raven 2 and the Paramilitary 2? I'd appreciate it if anyone could provide some side by side comparison pics, and share your experience with the two in use. I own the Raven 2, it's a great knife. Specs on the two knives are very similar, so I'm trying to figure out how redun...

Re: K390 in Golden made spydies ?
I don't need a Paramilitary 2; when I want something like it, I reach for my Byrd Raven 2. But K390 is such a superb steel, and so well-suited to a hard-use platform like the Para 2, that such a knife might push toward the front of the line for new Spydercos I "need." While the Police 4 is...

Re: 2018 Alistair Phillips!
Probably my most anticipated knife... ever. This is basically the knife I have been dreaming of since I started using Spydercos, and I'm equally excited about the slippy. S30V is fine with me, S35VN or XHP would be nice but anything more boutique will probably put this in a higher price range than I...

Re: Caly 3.5 Slipit
I also imagine that if a Caly 3.5 lw (locking) is truly in-the-works, a slippie model model of the 3.5 as well might be too much. Given the choice between the two, at 3.5" I'd take the one that locks. I hadn't heard of this until now, but I only joined the forum recently. Despite my general av...

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in the “VALUE LINEUP”
And how do you like the Alcyone so far? Other than the stiffness, it really is a nice knife overall...IMO I think your knife will break in just fine with cleaning, lube, and cycling. Hope you enjoy it. I'm glad to see that this thread seems to be selling some Polestars and Alcyones, it would be a s...

Re: Caly 3.5 Slipit
I would guess that the market might be limited for a slipit with a blade over 3" just due to the silly blade length laws that tend to go hand-in-hand with the non-locking laws. This makes sense. I don't live in such a restricted jurisdiction, and I've always preferred a locking folder with 3&q...

Caly 3.5 Slipit
I started a thread recently about Urban Sprints, and the subject of a proposed "Metropolitan" model came up, which would be based on the Spy-DK chassis and would be between the Urban and UKPK in size. I wasn't aware of the Metropolitan, but I think it's a great idea, as I'm a huge fan of t...

Re: Taking apart knives
I don't know what the answer is to this other than maybe VOID the Warranty and make it CLEAR that taking them part does VOID the WARRANRY. RED LOCITE on all screws except the Pivot Screw. I have never had a reason to take apart my Spyderco knives. Could use proprietary screws, have them made so not...

https://i.imgur.com/GTXS1b0.jpg "Urban Sprawl." This makes me envious. I’d rather see the changes made to the Urban and have the Metropolitan be released. I really like the SpyDK handle, but would rather a more useful blade with opening hole which is what the metropolitan is supposed to b...

Re: More Urban Sprints Please
At last check, the Metro was to use the Spy-DK handles and a 2.75" Urban/UKPK style blade. Afaik, production would stay in Italy. So, we can have European sprint steels on the Maniago-made Urban and Metropolitan, and American sprint steels on the Golden-made UKPK and the as-yet-unannounced: Ca...

I am glad to see this thread generating some interest, thank you all for your replies. Hi Paracelsus, Lbblue, Welcome to our forum. I'll watch the thread. More Urban Sprints Please
I knew I would like the Urban K390, but it wasn't a must-have knife for me. I already have a UKPK drop-point, how much better could it be? So I was shocked to find that all of my "better" knives were now living in a drawer, while the Urban handled every daily task with aplomb. I've never o...

If it showed up on a PM2, I might finally convince myself to get one. Or a Caly3.
This is the first steel I've used that truly seems to stand head and shoulders over the others.

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in the “VALUE LINEUP”
Back on topic. If you think the Polestar should be priced the same as the Tenacious, buy the Byrd Raven 2. It's a Polestar with a 50/50 choil at the same price as the Tenacious. byrd-knife-by08gp2-cm.jpg Spyderco-Polestar-LL-Gray-G-10-C220GPGY-BHQ-50832-jr-2.jpg spyderco-tenacious-c122g.jpg I believ...
