70 cuts through this thick plastic banding, still shaving sharp with no readily apparent edge wear or damage.

Here’s a question for the mind readers out there.
Ha ha! That is a good one. :D

The answer, by the way, is 42. ;)

Re: What are you listening to?

Beethoven's 7th Symphony, currently on the 3rd movement. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite of Beethoven's symphonies. Reminds me in many ways of his 3rd Symphony, the Eroica.

Re: Z-Max feedback. How is yours performing?

This evening, the Z-Max Mule was pressed into steak-knife duty. Spent maybe 15 to 20 minutes covered in steak juice, salt, and pepper. Feels similar to Maxamet, maybe a tad bit more resistant to staining.

Re: Z-Max feedback. How is yours performing?

This afternoon I took the Mule down for a first sharpening. Using my WE sharpener, I went from 200 grit to 1000 grit diamond stones, then finished with some very light passes on a 0.5 micron CBN leather strop. The factory edge grind was a little uneven but I established the new bevel at 16 dps. The ...

Swayback used to cut open bags of sand for my son's birthday sandbox.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

I know the swayback handle is "upside down" to make drawcuts easier, but how does it handle holding it normally? The butt of the handle digs into your hand really badly for any real use. The Ti scales are too heavy to make it a legitimate work or hiking knife and Ti is a poor choice for either use ...

Re: Z-Max feedback. How is yours performing?

Just finished a little stropping to see how the edge would come back. Maybe 10 minutes. I began with the 14 micron diamond-on-basswood strop and finished with some 4 micron CBN on leather. It is back to slicing phonebook paper.

Re: Z-Max feedback. How is yours performing?

I spent some time tonight giving the Z-Max some work. This is a board of very dry seasoned oak. https://files.catbox.moe/x7bqs0.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/067m4z.jpg Carved on it for maybe 15+ minutes, very much white-knuckling it and putting through a lot of force. My hand was almost sore by the ...

Re: Self loosening pivots

Yes, I've had pivots loosen on me. Not just Spyderco. In all cases, a dab (or two) of blue locktite fixes the issue.

Re: DLC coated Mule, would you be interested?

I voted for the last option, but I'm probably closer to no. 2. I think it's a neat idea, but would add too much cost to a project that already is probably a net loss for Spyderco.

Re: Z-Max feedback. How is yours performing?

If mine is warped I haven't noticed. But it did come with a very slightly discolored tip, like yours, vanka. Been carrying and using it at work the last few days. I have cut maybe 20 feet of single-ply cardboard, carved a bunch on some hard wood, and also cut maybe 15 feet worth of very dense thick ...

As an aside, disassembly/reassembly no longer voids the warranty unless you mess something up in the process.

[Img]https://i.imgur.com/G4pNHzv.jpg[/img Much better. Nice! I have the same clip on mine. I like spyderco spoon clips but the stock clip should have come with a stonewashed finish. And it was so tall! I actually carried mine clipless, in my watch pocket, the past few days until this clip came. Cli...
