Easy to sharpen, plus some other tools to increase the utility of the knife.curlyhairedboy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 3:26 amHow about one of the new Clip it multitools? Give him something he can pry/turn a screw with in the shop.

Re: Gift Knife for Brother: your opinions wanted
Fifth vote for a Salt, either a Pacific or Salt 2. if SE it'll hold its "edge" long enough until you visit and can sharpen it for him, and they are durable, long lasting serrations If PE, H1 will be tough and he'll be able to easily sharpen it on most surfaces and with most tools, added b...

Re: The Best Edge Steels
I only have experience with k390, but I'm pretty eager to try out maxamet! I have a Native 5 Maxamet and I just can't *not* put it in my pocket every morning. It's such a workhorse of a knife. Just this morning I was slicing up soda cans for fun - cut about 10 of them into ribbons, and the knife w...

Re: The Best Edge Steels
IN MY OPINION These three are the best high performance edge steels that are AVALIBLE on production folders in 2018 Maxamet, K390, CPM Cruwear It was difficult to narrow it it down to these three, especially with m4,10v and 52100. BD1N and 4v are also favorites but there are currently no folders av...

Re: Gift Knife for Brother: your opinions wanted
Did he have a boy or girl. If a boy 2 Delicas one for him one for his son. Give it to him when he turns 10 Cool to get a 10 year old Spyderco when you turn 10. It's a boy. Nice idea! this is a good idea if he had a girl too! ;) Right. :) I think I'll get either the Delica 4 or the Salt 2.... Quick ...

Re: Gift Knife for Brother: your opinions wanted
Thanks everyone! Lots of good suggestions. SE Salt 2. It is corrosion proof, so oil, grease, brake fluid, ect. won't phase it much. And if he has no sharpening gear, the serrations will keep him in business until he gets a sharpmaker :D Interesting; I hadn't thought of any of the Salt models. I don'...

Gift Knife for Brother: your opinions wanted
My brother and his wife just had their first child, and I thought I'd get a small "congrats" gift for him. He doesn't really have any decent EDC knife and has said different times that he'd like to get a nice one sometime. I think this would be a great time to introduce him to Spyderco. :)...

Re: ZT 566 or 450?
Recently I was eyeing the ZT 0450. It was that or the Spyderco Advocate. Even though I eventually went with the Advocate (beautiful knife!), I still like the looks of the ZT, and the fact that it's got a SS blade.
Of course, I guess I should've just gotten both. :)

That sounds pretty extreme! A quarter to three eighths inch?! I'm assuming it happened suddenly...?
I'm curious, what kind of tasks do you put your knife to?
And welcome to the forum from another newbie. :)

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
His highlighted section of Sal's post indicates he might be confusing the difference in buying a new knife, tampering with it, and returning to the dealer for a refund.... vs tampering with a knife, then sending it to Spyderco to get fixed, if possible, and on the customer dime if the damage was ca...

Re: Shipping of internal parts
The other questions were: What model do you have? What variation do you have? Do you have a counterfeit? I'd say it's the customer's responsibility to know what model/variation he has, and then Spyderco ships the parts requested. It's the customer's responsibility to get the model correct. Obviousl...
