Re: Bark River Knives closing?
The one that is supposed to be S45VN tested as MagnaCut
Man, it sure looks like that.
I think this was a buddy with an XRF doing him a favor mind you, not exactly lab work.
There is at least one former employee who has claimed in the Facebook groups that in a few cases knives were simply ...

Re: Bark River Knives closing?
Another BRK owner had a batch of knives tested via XRF and here are the results he shared.

Most look just fine, but the Pig Sticker looks like it was also mislabeled as CPM154 instead of 440C.
XRF certainly has some problems. Folks aren't testing in a lab, XRF ...

Re: When will first MagnaMax Spydercos show up ?
Here we go again, over promising and under delivering.
There is no magic steel, it's all a trade-off depending on what aspects you prioritize.
I was suspicious as anyone with all the hype magnacut was getting. I never trust knife stuff that gets hyped that much. It's a solid steel though ...

Re: Bark River Knives closing?
Poor old Wako (Virtuovice) must be sitting on a million Yen worth of BRK landfill.
I suppose that’s what you get for bringing in scores of customers and loyal patronage from himself over the years.
There must be a way that scoundrel can be legally persued. No way he can be allowed get away with ...

Re: Spyderco Slym - what's the take?
Just got mine in today. It's a little stiff. Very smooth action, though. I'll take it to work tomorrow to play with and loosen it up. FANTASTIC fit and finish! Blade is centered and the round spine is a very nice touch. I think I'm going to love this knife. I haven't cut anything yet but the ...

Re: Spyderco Slym - what's the take?
I'm debating ordering this knife after reading the other thread posted here. I have X-Large hands and wonder if the handle will be too small...I love the looks of the knife since it reminds me of my Vallatton.
Here ya go , if you can forgive the poor lighting on my quickodicko images ...

Dang, that's a bummer. I've ought quite a few blades from them over the years. Although my last purchase was about 2017. It was the Shining Mountain Bowie.

Re: Spyderco Slym - what's the take?
I shared my thoughts in the Slym In Stock thread.
I still feel the same way about it.
That thread was the only reference I found when I looked here .. and glad to hear you are still liking the knife.
Ironically, I would really like it if it was less slim.
By "not slim", you mean ...

Very nice looking knife. It reminds me of my Vallatton. This may be my next knife, hehe. Who has the best price for these? I have one in my cart at the Cutlery Shoppe currently.

Re: Ikuchi XL

Not sure why XL versions cause people to post negative feedback. I'm not in favor of negative feedback.
A few reasons I can think of:
1) Most people don't have massive hands and these knives typically cater to a smaller population of the knife community
2) Not everyone can carry a large ...

It's a Mastercard protected card and I placed my order on the day this thread started.
Plus, it's my second checking account, for online purchases only, mostly.

I'm kinda nervous because my debit card was compromised last week and I went to the BladeHQ site to update the payment method and now don't have any way of knowing the status of this pre-order!
I logged in and there's nothing in my history of putting a deposit down.

Re: Bug abalone limited?
I ordered 2 today from Knife Center. It showed I Stock but when I paid for them it says one item in backorder.
I wanted to give one to my niece but just noticed that they don't have locks.
Beautiful little knives though.

Re: Your best example of a Spyderco
I've had plenty of "lower end" models that were downright perfect in fit and finish, so it's not always the high end stuff. That said, the one that always comes to mind for this topic is the Vallotton. So many pieces, so much machining and finishing, there are a lot of opportunities to screw ...
