Re: Your best example of a Spyderco
I've had plenty of "lower end" models that were downright perfect in fit and finish, so it's not always the high end stuff. That said, the one that always comes to mind for this topic is the Vallotton. So many pieces, so much machining and finishing, there are a lot of opportunities to screw ...

Re: Plain Edge VS Serrated Edge
I like plain edge for fine "office environment" deployment. SE for difficult, rough cuts like rope, cardboard or other "outdoor" cuts. I carry both.

Re: Why doesn't Spyderco help us avoid fakes?
Why? Because all those pictures are feedback for the counterfeiters on what they're doing wrong.
Coaching them on how to improve wouldn't be prudent.
They provide you with a wide range of authorized dealers. Don't search for deals on Amazon or eBay and stick to the ADs.
But there's the old ...

Re: Blade to Handle Efficiency?
When I designed the original Yojimbo about 25 years ago, I purposely put a 3-inch blade in a handle that would accommodate something longer. The idea was that the handle would still fit larger hands and provide a striking point at the butt, yet the blade would be legal to carry on a plane even ...

That's unusual. I would think they were going for the deeper, more defined look.

Very nice. What scales are those? I'm thinking of getting that kit but not sure what scales to use.
Thanks. I made these scales myself, they're 3/16 canvas micarta. I definitely prefer them over the g10 scales Spyderco sells, although those scales are ...

If the blade is thin enough, I might keep it white. Kinda like a quasi gentleman's knife/edc.zhyla wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 9:43 pmI’m not super into the white but it’s a nice blank canvas if you want to dye the scales.raygixxer89 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 8:59 pmThe white g10 is what got me. I pre-ordered it from BHQ.

Re: Numbers and letters on blade
113 is one of our collector's club numbers and the 'V' is for variant. We originally had six collector number when the club started, but were persuaded to give up two. Our numbers are 60, 72, 112, and 113. We received four of every knife that Spyderco makes.

Re: Is Maxamet from Taiwan "better" than from USA?
One might also note that the pictures posted by the OP represent the entire population of broken Maxamet knives available on the Internet: nine (9) knives. I know there have been primitive cultures that counted, "1, 2, many" but I don't think most of us here would consider nine knives to be ...

Re: Native Chief User Stories?
I carried mine for 2 weeks straight after I received it. The knife works well as a general purpose blade and fits well in pocket for its size.
I will say that this is the first knife that I have bent the pocket clip. I have no idea how it happened but it surprised tye heck out of me. I was able to ...

Re: A question about my micarta / cruwear Native Chief
I haven’t noticed this yet in any spyder backlocks :/
Out of all the Spydercos I've owned over the years, I only have two that show a bit of movement and I bought them within a month of each other. My stainless Harpy and my Caly 3.5.
It kinda bothers me to the point that I don't want to carry ...

Re: Any love for the Ikuchi?
one of the things i wished was different about the ikuchi is that it would fit in the pen pocket of my uniform the way a crkt ceo did. due to the curvature and the thicc end, it does not fit in a standard pen pocket. however, it's such a great design and fits so nicely in a pants pocket that it ...

Re: Any love for the Ikuchi?
Yeah the wheel opener is cool. A guy from the counter at the outlet has carried one pretty much since it has been out and has a high opinion of it. I like it, but due to it's smaller size, it (and also the Kobol and especially the Nand) are slightly harder to control in my hand.
If I had an ...
