Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?

No as it is still attached to the lanyard tube. You can pivot it away with no problem. Also, WTF does someone do that they need to completely disassemble a knife to clean it on a regular basis? *Edited - Unnecessary and disrespectful* - TazKristi The scale has to be pushed out of its original fit w...

Well my friend, lift from the blade pivot point and rotate the liner lock. *Edited - Unnecessary and disrespectful*- TazKristi
That's basically removing it

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?

... You don't have to remove the lanyard tube to disassemble the Para 3. Only if you want to replace the scales. If I'm disassembling my Para3 for cleaning, I like to remove the scales to make sure there isn't any moisture/rust building up between the liner and the scale. That makes zero sense. You...

Would you be interested in the Military Tanto that was shown in the 2019 Shot Show video?
If you mean the PM2 Tanto, only if they contoured the scales.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?

Typically I choose the Sage5 over the Para3. Sage5 has non free-spinning hardware and a non press-fit lanyard tube, making disassembly easy, and the handle is thinner than the Para3. Para3 has a free-spinning stand-off and press-fit lanyard tube, making disassembly difficult, and the fatter handle c...

Re: Two things that today cannot be done.

WIth my small hands, the PM2's lack of contouring is quite uncomfortable.

The standoff is free-spinning and the lanyard tube is press-fit, making disaassembly a pain.

I've sold off my user PM2 and the others just sit in a box, never-used, waiting to be sold as well.

Re: The Endela - what are your hopes for it?

Please no finger grooves. Many knives that I think I would've liked have turned out to give me the finger because they sport finger grooves that don't match my smaller-than-normal hands. Yojimbo 2, Delica, Endura, all great designs that just hate my hands. The Military and Kapara are both large kniv...

Re: Will the Paramilitary FRN replace the Delica?

Now for the question of questions: Will this replace the Delica for those who purchase and use the Spyderco Delica models, or, not? For me, the Delica has already been replaced by the UK Pen Knife. The ergonomics of the Delica just do not work for my hands due to the finger grooves and the pocket c...

Re: Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?

Pretty much only one reason - lack of major bevels on the handle edges. I have smaller hands than most, so thick handled knives with square cross sections and unbeveled edges are extremely uncomfortable, like holding a sharpened brick. The PM2/Para3 are rarely seeing pocket time for this reason. I d...

Re: Compression Lock Millie?

OK then I'll put it this way. How would re-designing the C-36 Military model with a more expensive locking system benefit the model or the end line user? I find that a lot of non-knife people are nervous about using liner locks/frame locks, to the point where if I lend them one, they would refuse t...

Re: Compression Lock Millie?

I've said so many times before on subjects like this "If It Isn't Broke Then Let's Not Try To Fix It" ;) I find that line a bit amusing, with Spyderco's CQI and general improvements over time. The current iteration of the Military is certainly not the same as the first ones produced. On o...

CPM-154 in larger knives

With the Darn Dao in CPM-154 and the Respect planned for that, I'm curious about the expected performance of these knives, and any future ones in this steel.

Light brush clearing? Chopping? Batoning? In a large blade, how far can CPM-154 be pushed before it fails?

Re: Friendly Challenge to fellow Spyderco Users: I say Endura and Delica 4 = Best and "Peak" Spyderco Model. What say y

I disagree. The Delica's ergonomics flat out don't work for me due to the finger grooves and pocket clip placement. I've tried to like it, but every time I took it out for use it reminded me how uncomfortable it is. So far the only Spyderco that beats the Delica for worst-ergos-for-me is the Yojimbo...

Re: Hey Ed. Whatchathink?

I'd also like to see it with a Power Lock.

It's a neat lock that I'd like to see more of, and at the moment it's only offered in the Chinook 4 (with the Tatanka being discontinued)

Re: Sal, have you ever tried making a lock back with an internal stop pin?

For further clarification: See the Compression Lock. Mechanically, it's very similar to the Triad Lock in how lock up is achieved. The "lock bar" of a Triad lock and the spring liner of the Compression lock are both serving as a means to transfer force from the blade tang to a static stop ...

Re: Sal, have you ever tried making a lock back with an internal stop pin?

Vivi, Check Nick Shabbazz Broken Skull disassembly video. If Spyderco does that it’s going to enhance the current line big time. ETA: I just remembered you have Voyager. I think it also has one. I think that would infringe on Andrew Demko's patent. Sal and Eric won't even use an Axis type lock, eve...

Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?

I recently got a Chinook 4. The Power Lock is easy to manipulate for how much strength it's supposed to offer, and the handle is decently comfortable even to my smaller-than-average hands. I prefer more of a spear-point than a trailing-point, but still a neat large knife.

Re: Proposal: A Contoured Scale Series

I'd really love more contoured scales on spydercos, even just contoured edges. A lot of spydercos that are considered ergonomic end up very uncomfortable for me due to my smaller hands making those sharp corners a lot more noticeable. Contoured edge PM2 I did a while back - not the prettiest job, bu...
