Re: LC200N Ikuchi Salt - The folding steak knife I have been dreaming of!

The Ikuchi does make for a nice little steak knife, I’ve used it a couple times at dinner. Even Eric mentioned at Shot Show that he would probably try it in that role once they were released. So who knows, maybe he’s thinking the same thing as the OP. It would also be awesome and appropriate to hav...

Re: Chap LW idea

Hmmm... is nylon available in a glow in the dark variety? I don't know exactly what they have access to in Taiwan. There have been glow in the dark Spyderco exclusives in the past. I think the scales were smooth on those though and a different material. I would prefer a molded Glow in the Dark FRN/...

Re: BHQ Manix in M390

If you want to get technical, then yes they are exclusives, however they are actually listed as a limited run. If all, or most dealers get the knives, it's really not exclusive anymore, hence the label, "limited run". They are "distributor exclusives", which are limited runs by definition. Only cer...

Re: BHQ Manix in M390

Is this the same distributor who has the S35VN Earth Brown exclusives? I wonder if they are switching to M390 now. I certainly would if I was them. M390 is much more popular than S35VN these days. I hope they keep going and do a Native, Military, and Manix XL in the DLC M390 / Earth Brown G10 combo...

Re: Earth brown S35VN DLC P3

I have been thinking of trying a Para 3 again (I sold a Cruwear one). I like the color combo for this release but for those of you who have multiple versions, is this a steel that is worth it or would you go for a better steel? S35VN is a great all around steel that's very corrosion resistant....be...

Re: I gave my best knives away. Now what?

I would get the new Native Salt or track down an M4 Linerless G10 Native on eBay. Bladeheadquarters ran those as an exclusive earlier in the year. Or maybe the soon to be released Para 3 Lightweight in BDN1?

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

Not to nitpick, but my native maxamet is not pinned. Did you mean the manix lw? Ha, I must have blacked out during my lengthy post...yes...I meant the Manix LW. Lol. I edited my post to correct. Again... nitpicking.... some of us (... maybe just me) use our top tier knives just as we would any knif...

Re: Mule Team

Why would you be testing steels you want to see in upcoming folders in an abusive way? Isn't that what Spyderco does with their steels to test them? And isn't that what the Mule project was? An extension of Spyderco's arduous testing to give feedback? If people won't be testing a steel by pushing i...

Re: Salt Series UKPK

I am in for a Ukpk Salt. An exclusive would be more expensive so please just a "regular". Greetings Exclusives are usually the same price as normal knives, some even less somehow. There are variables such as the cost of different steels, coating (DLC adds cost), and scale materials (CF is more expe...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

We haven't used red for quite a while. Most of our knives are screw construction. But not everyone wants screw construction so we try to make enough variety to serve our broad range of customers. sal Thanks Sal, that is great to hear about the red loctite being phased out! :) I am curious though as...

Re: Mule Team

a folding mule would make more sense. But it would make less sense for the program because part of testing the steels is putting them through very abusive tasks and the last thing you do with a folder, especially a lightweight, is a very abusive task. Yes, they'd sell a lot more, but how much would...

Re: Mule Team

At this point I would just say use the Para 3 LW as a new folding mule for any new steels. The Para 3 already has plenty of steels that can be used for apples to apples comparisons. You could designate a particular scale color (like white...or that crystal clear FRCP??) for a mule that would help dr...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

Hi Bloke, If the pinned knives go right together first time with no redo, they do have some economic advantage and can be sold less expensively. They also require less space. sal Sal, I have to say I kinda really really dislike pinned or riveted knives. I just bought this Manix 2 from a pawn shop f...
