Re: Compression Lock Military 2 Steel Poll

My suggestion is of no account to anyone, but I chose 20cv just because. However, FOR MYSELF IS CONCERNED, the steel is the least important. All the listed steels above are more than adequate and will work better than fine. I am far more concerned with ergonomics and aesthetics.

Re: A resurrected lower cost One-Eyed Jack, please

I'm looking for a more "classy style" folder for discreet carry to alternate with my Case Mini-Trappers. I have looked at the OEJ a few times and if not for the rather premium price, would have jumped on it. However, it does seem to be calling me (also a tie between that and the Kiwi or th...

Re: S30V Only Cool if it's a Benchmade?

For what I use my knives for (and I have/use literally dozens) blade steel doesn't even enter the picture. So s30v is perfectly suited for my particular needs, but then again so does 420HC.

Oh and BTW, you are referring to the 940-2 as the -1 is CF and s90v.

Re: Hard truths and observations

1) the pricing elephant in the room is this: anybody here who has more than a couple of pocket knives (me included) purchases knives as luxury goods. Regarding luxury good marketing and pricing, quality and materials are only remotely correlated to price of goods. Roland. Ah, I was hoping someone w...

Re: Para 3 vs paramilitary 2

A year ago, I bought my first Spyderco knives, an all black s30v PM2 and an all black s30v Para 3. My P3 is in my rotation and my P2 rarely sees the light of day. That's MY take on the two.

"Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?"

Well, for me, I don't like back locks. I only own two (by different manufacturers) that never get carried and just sit in a drawer. However, I'm not crazy about liner/frame locks either, but they do see the light of day on occasion.

As you keep an open mind and observe and learn, one finds: differences in steel and the "why", handle materials, ergonomics, mechanical (locks, opening methods, etc.), performance, edge geometries and a host of other courses in knife 101 to PHD studies. I have observed that when someone i...

But that is the point of the "ignore" button, to ignore those kinds of people. Life is far too short to get upset and your blood pressure up over the antics of some keyboard warrior.

Re: Location

I have my location listed as Ottawa Canada because that is a city that most people have heard of. But point of fact I reside about 30 miles south of Ottawa in a 120 year old (drafty) farm house in the midst of miles of farmland. I spent all of my childhood in Ottawa but moved out to the country soon...

Re: Ignore feature?

I "grew up" on BBS's and usenet from back in the early '90's where it truly was the wild west. There was no such thing as a MOD, you had to do the moderating yourself. I still operate that way. I don't spend much time on this forum, so I am not too familiar with most here and as such have ...

Re: Help with problem with pivot on Positron

Great thread. I just want to be certain, is the adjusting screw on the show side or the clip side? The reason I ask (unfortunately my memory is getting a little spotty) is I seem to recall from another source, that it was the clip side that turns, hence my re-asking to make sure I don't muck it up. ...

Re: Made a strop

I took an unused paint stir stick and glued an old belt to both sides, smooth side out. I haven't needed to use any compound yet, but I can sure get a real sharp edge. My son used to install hardwood flooring so I have a garbage can full of oak scraps. I'll have to use a piece of flooring to make a ...

I haven't noticed too much negativity here but if/when I see it, I just skip past the "offender". Interestingly, "the other rather large knife oriented forum" is the only forum that I have put people on the "ignore" list (over 40 so far) and find it quite pleasant to re...

Personally I see this as another example of a 'virtual problem' that has cropped up in the age of the internet.
"snipped"
Buy what you like from a major manufacturer and I doubt you'll have any problems.

Re: Finding the Para 3: The Perrfect Storm

I kind of chuckle over what some people consider as a catastrophic failure as to the pocket clip position on the Para 3. I find it sticks out of the pocket just a 1/4 inch more than the PM2. Not much more in the grand scheme of things. I was thinking about an MXG clip for both but actually prefer th...
