Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Got in on the Advocate/ Chaparral 3 combo! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Stepped Titanium. James Was that for the CQI Advocste or old Advocate? I'm assuming the older version (they didn’t specify ) but getting both for the cost of the discontinued /discounted Stepped Titanium chap...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

I prefer to buy Spyderco knives from cutlery shoppe. Just as fast shipping , and I know it's real when I get it from Jeff.

And I wouldn't take that bet ,lol. Amazon is probably the biggest seller of *insert item*.[/quote]

I agree. The Cutlery Shop is my dealer of choice. More or less exclusively.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

If Spyderco has become a matter of prestige and elitism then I want no part of it. They began making solid knives like I had never seen before. I was poor and they were affordable quality. All things must pass. Well, this thing has yet to pass :) https://i.imgtc.com/FBYBNDZ.png Quality made, full s...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

Yeah I noticed this too. Some of the new for 2018 knives were already listed at %35 of MSRP. What REALLY disappoints me is that Spyderco snuck in some additional price hikes. Most significant to me is the shaman. I've spent nearly $1000 dollars on spydercos this season. I figured I'd wait for an in...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

First off, I’m not looking to stir up any commotion. I’m just trying to understand if this is correct. I’m seeing this jump across multiple sites. By my calculations (and I’m bad at math so they could be wrong) it looks like the Shaman just jumped 21% up in price. From $149.97 to $181.97. The MSRP ...

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco

I know and they know other people have problems unless they're saying that these other reports are fabrications. Other people HAVE had issues across the board with bearing pivots regardless of model and its always the same complaint and its usually the same thing. Disappointing action and not much ...

Re: I wish Spyderco would make...

I would also like to see some more Manix 2 XL options, Jade/M4, CF/s110v. How about an XL lightweight? Translucent blue FRCP & at least s30v steel, I would like screw together construction instead of the pins used on the Manix 2 LW, but it wouldn't stop me from buying one if it was pinned. Call...

Re: I wish Spyderco would make...

How about a super fine paramilitary 2. Thinking about a stonewashed 204p blade maybe with some slight changes to soften the gimping and other lines. RIL on titanium anodized and slightly stone washed frame. Maybe titanium on show side and CF on compression lock side. Wire clip. Just really well fini...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

From what I hear, genuine DLC coating like spydercos have is almost impossible to normally wear off. Streaks are just material deposited onto the the coating during cutting. Southards have a titanium carbon nitride treatment. I guess they started using this on the southards before spyderco started ...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

Also any recommendations to finish out my current spending spree? Sliverax :D I've been seriously considering one of those myself! Yeah I like the design concept. Strikes me as a little on the light duty side though. What do you think is light duty about it? It's certainly not a hard use knife but ...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

That's the way I remember my Black Southard. Really wish I hadn't sold it off. Will prolly have to get another :D I can confirm the black handles are noticeably smoother than the brown. I got to handle both at the SFO and actually went with the brown at the last minute because of their greater &quo...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

Got my new black Southard the other day. I'm very happy to have one again. It's a great knife! This time I'm not selling it off for something else. That was a mistake that won't be made twice. :) I've been curious about the wear on the black ti cnitride treatment. Did you put much use into your fir...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

Mine arrived today. To say blown away is an understatement. I've always thought the "if you could only keep 1" threads were a little silly, and they are, but I really think I could be happy with only a Southard and a dragonfly. Knocked the PITS down to #2 of my nicest knives. The quality ...

Re: Do I really "need" a Southard?

Well I'm out of control! New knives include DLT m390 PM2, knifeworks 204P military, Blade HQ M4 military and now the tan southard! The sales are going to ruin me man. So I saw some comments about the flipping action between the two. After seeing most of the YouTube videos I went with the tan because...

Haha, had my whittleing chip card as a scout. It's the lessons and guidance that are useful The "blood circle" rule is a biggie I recently got my 10 year old nephew his first knife (after checking with his parents) I went with a blunt tipped knife. Cuts can happen but it really reduces the...

Re: Maxamet, Cruwear, or M390 oh my?

I agree about the s35vn. I'm also a new spyderco fan. After a rigorous brain download of all things knife over the past couple of months I was fortunate to have my first spyderco acquisition of the new DLT PM2 in m390. Oh and it is sweet. I'm not a collector so this knife is going to be used and for...

Re: PM2 tech question

I've had my pm2 m390 in hand half the weekend and while the drop and pivot action is pretty smooth there is some hang up when initially depressing the compression lock. This is my first pm2 so I don't know how normal it is, it doesn't look like the case on videos I've seen. Anyway that's been my exp...
