Re: Knives that cut like the Native Chief in upcoming sprint runs?

There's a rex45 chief on the spyderco swap right now, I just sent you info on signing up. https://cutleryshoppe.com/spyderco-c244gporbk-native-chief-folder-4-1-dlc-finish-cts-xhp-blade-orange-g-10-handle-cutlery-shoppe-exclusive/?fbclid=IwAR1t3jizYBGjmqEI3CrJ_ZnKDRvSZueFI3tZAGXiz55lZ9xx26InmH4AA10 ...

Knives that cut like the Native Chief in upcoming sprint runs?

Well, I lost my Spyderco Native Chief in REX 45 at the job site recently. I really loved the way that knife cut. Can you guys shed some light on other Spyderco knives that cut similarly? I enjoy the steels Spyderco puts out in their sprint runs, so if you know any great cutting knives coming out in ...

Re: Native Chief REX45 and S90V Sprint discussion and ANTICIPATION thread! (not alerts)

Any one else's s90v one super gritty, and their Rex45 super smooth? I've been opening and closing my s90v one repeatedly the past couple days and it's getting better. Love both of them! Mine's the same. S90v feels more "tight" than rex45. I'm sure they'll get better with time. My REX 45 w...

Re: Z-Wear Shaman lookout thread

Totally worth it if you guys can get your hands on one. The Chief blade is very impressive and that REX 45 is really cool.

Re: Native Chief REX45 and S90V Sprint discussion and ANTICIPATION thread! (not alerts)

So far so good with my REX 45 Chief. Spyderco did an awesome job with the blade geometry. It carries really well I almost forget it's in my pocket. It cuts exceptionally well. This is probably the smoothest back lock I've ever used. It's not dull yet, but I'm thinking of sharpening it to avoid any i...

Re: Native Chief REX45 and S90V Sprint discussion and ANTICIPATION thread! (not alerts)

Took mine out of the box and did some whittling with it. The blade looks good, the grind is almost perfectly even on both sides. It's very light. The ergos are okay I guess. There's some sharp corners on the G10 which are immediate hot spots, but they can be chamfered easily. I doubt it's a good kni...

Just keep it oiled. Dont go diving with it, you should be fine.
Are there any oils you prefer?

I took apart a native 5 and never could get it to feel as smooth as it did from the factory

Re: Z-Wear Shaman lookout thread

I wonder if Spyderco has reached the point where they can offer only the fancy version of the knife. Like when the shaman came out, most people were indifferent. "How much for g10 and s30V?" Would non knife geeks be turned off by micarta and cruwear/4v if it was the only version?; I think...

Re: Native Chief REX45 Lookout Thread

Grabbed one from bhq I'm starting to to like the fact I couldn't get a Shaman. If I'm being honest, my most used hard use knife is a 15 dollar utility knife from home depot. Having a slicy knife in Rex 45 is better for me. Good for most things I'll need a knife for and has a much better steel than ...

Re: Native Chief REX45 Lookout Thread

Well I'm surprised I got one. I wanted a Shaman originally, but couldn't get one.

I hope the chief suits me well enough.

Techno CTS-XHP stone washed blade

Has anyone seen one of these before? I've had it for about a year and a half. It seems to sharpen just fine.

Re: Z-Wear Shaman: availability discussion & lookout thread

Haha I don't think I have any more than average grip strength. Maybe my hand shape puts a lot of pressure on the back lock area? How's the edge geometry and spine thickness on the Shaman? I often have to make deep cuts on stuff at work. I have been using my Lil Sub Hilt for a few years, and while it...

Re: Z-Wear Shaman: availability discussion & lookout thread

I've never had a compression lock before. I'm hoping it's not uncomfortable to really bear down on it when trying to cut something. When using a spyderco native 5, I would engage the back lock and the knife would try to close when trying to remove it from what I was cutting. It doesn't look like the...

Re: Z-Wear Shaman: availability discussion & lookout thread

Still no news on this knife?
I put it on my wishlist at blade hq, I hope I can get one.

Sort of unrelated but does the compression lock ever have any problems locking if it gets a bunch of dust on it? I plan on using at a construction site.
