Re: Rock Lobster ricasso

Only the back end of the flat section contacts the stop pin. Other than that, it's not functionally necessary aside from decreasing the risk of accidental injury while closing the knife.

Rock Lobster ricasso

Any reason why the ricasso on the Rock Lobster is so wide? The custom Anso and even the Spydiechef have much smaller areas.

Does it provide some kind of lock support when closed? Or no function at all and it can be widened?

Re: Subvert C239GPOR

EDIT: I tried the Subvert again against the box, and the box is dying, bleeding badly. The blade is intact. I must have hit something unawares when hiking. It was not the box. All good for the vert. Love it!

Re: Subvert C239GPOR

checked it again, just 2 layers of cardboard edge, from a box. Longest cut here is the Subvert, slices like a demon...the other cuts are from other knives. No staples or railroad tracks....

Re: Subvert C239GPOR

Just got a Subvert, awesome; quickly one of my favorite knives. I thought it could be a good hiking knife, with that bolo shape, ...be able to do some light chopping, like cutting small, soft branches and plants in the way of the path, etc.

Did some firm chops against a cardboard box comparing the ...

Re: Slysz Bowie ergonomic ?

* countour the 90 degree and sharp edges
* redesign the placement of the pocket clip screw / last scale screw. Maybe combine them into one
* make the lockbar cutout on the inside of the scale
* pocket clip pinches and snags at the lockbar cutout

very nice knife, maybe one of the ...

Re: Slysz Bowie screws, detent ball

Check BladesWeLove on eBay. He's really good at having the hardware for knives, and knowing which sizes are correct. He specializes in the colored titanium stuff but I've had good luck with more standard looking hardware with him too. He's a knife guy who actually goes through and test fits the ...

Re: Slysz Bowie screws, detent ball

Odds are some maker has anodized titanium replacement hardware sets. Contacting them should get you the screw sizes, or just buy a set from them.

as for the detent ball, a set of calipers is your best bet.

thx, yeah, could not find anybody except ebay lovesbladesguy. Vendors sell for all kinds ...

Slysz Bowie screws, detent ball

Bowie needs new hardware screws and detent ball. Where to get correct sizes for screws and detent ball and where to purchase? Spyderco will not service the knife and they do not know the specs nor will they bother to find out. They avoid the issue and responded "I’m sorry due to CQI spec changes and ...
