Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?

I can’t stand sharpening. I have a Sharpmaker and a few other inexpensive sharpeners but only use them when absolutely necessary.

Re: Who would like a traditional slip-joint Spyderco?

No interest. I like my Case traditionals and don’t need a Spyderco version. I have 20 Spydercos and look to them for modern folders.

Also, the UKPN, Roadie and Urban are kinda cool IMO. Good steels, great looks and don’t need nail nicks and bone IMO.

Re: Future plans for the UKPK?

So I finally got the FRN lightweight Urban and have realised it's exactly what I want from the UKPK! What I don't like about the UKPK is it's too light and doesn't feel sturdy or substantial enough for a 3 inch knife. The blade is too thin. The back lock only goes half way down the spine. What I lo...

Re: People still like Benchmade?

I have new (within the last year) Benchmade Bugout and Griptilian knives and they are great. Perfectly made and arrived sharp and perfectly centred.

I own 3 Benchmades and 20 Spydercos/Byrds though, so I do tend to prefer Spydercos.

Re: Knives here, there, and everywhere

Bedroom nightstand, home office desk, laptop bag, at my cottage and on the kitchen counter is where I tend to leave knives. I have a 5yr old daughter that is super cautious around my knives, but I make sure everything is out of reach... I always have a couple lying around that I can reach for if one...

Re: What do you sharpen with?

Sharpmaker for my good knives only as it takes me a lot of time to sharpen a knife with the SM as I have only had it a few months. For my beaters and camp knives, I have a few cheap Vaughan sharpening blocks and pocket stones. They work great and sharpen quick but I scratch the blades a lot. I would...

Re: Bit excited

I really didn’t like my P3 until I put a MXG clip on it. It still looks a bit goofy due to where the big lanyard hole is but it is now a great knife. I prefer my Native and Manix 2 but I do love the compression lock and Camo G10 on the P3. To each their own, but I find that Spyderco ergonomics are a...

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.

Doc, Peacent, Vivi, and other fellow Cold Steel knife users: What do you think of the "Grivory" handle material that they use? Is this another variation of Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon and how do you like its durability and feel? They also tend to use Kraton in some of their handles and al...

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.

The only thing about Cold Steel is that the owner is a bully. He lays claim to long known, and commonly used names that pre-date him (like San Ma, et al.) and then sends threatening letters to other companies that continue to use these names. Then, he has the unmitigated gall to use a hole in some ...

Re: EDC Fixed Blade Discussion

https://i.imgur.com/PMkMpAK.jpg Liked the Landi EDC enough to get a second. This one has a rougher texture to the scales, it's nice. I have the same knife and it is great for the price. I use it a lot. I also use an ESEE 4 and a 6 and just picked up a Buck 102 and a 103 on clearance. The ESEE 6 onl...

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.

I bought a Recon 1 a couple of months ago as I wanted a rock solid heavy use folder. My first CS and I liked it so much that I bought a second Recon 1 (serrated and non), a Rajah III and an American Lawman. A Talwar is next. I think the CS marketing videos are completely idiotic but I love the knive...

Classy catalogue and classy company that doesn’t try to bone Canadians $5-10 to ship a catalog. :)

Re: H1 is the perfect EDC steel. Change my mind..

Pacific Salt has climbed to the top of my list, right next to SB Caly 3.5. Love the handle, better than Endura 4 by far and H1 has great properties for EDC use. Funny enough, I am the same re: Pacific Salt vs. Endura 4. Basically they are the same knife (size and basic overall platform), but I grea...

Re: Why, Spyderco, Why?

but I'll take the $115 USA Made Native over the $165 Taiwan made Caribbean. The knife with the best fit and finish I own is the Taiwanese Gayle Bradly 2. I would never have thought the quality of Taiwan knives could be better than US, but my GB2 definately is. Having said that, I agree with your po...

Re: Bad experience from Customer Service

This is a huge problem for me as the clowns at Canadian Border Services recently ruled that basically any locking folder is illegal to import into Canada and will be confiscated. If I have to ship my knife to Colorado for a little part, there is a VERY good chance that I will never see my knife agai...

Re: Best Spyderco value

IMO there are lots. That’s why I have bought roughly 18 Spydercos/Byrds in the last few months. The Cara Cara 2 is a great knife for around $20 as is the Tenacious at around twice that. The Manix 2 LW in BD1 is also a great value IMO. The granddaddy of value to quality/performance though is the GB2....
