There were a couple of Kershaw branded knives with VG10, though I think they were made by other people or designers. Shun kitchen knives also use it.

D4 with asymmetric blade grind?

I finally needed to sharpen the blade on my combo edged D4 this evening. The plain portion was starting to roll a little and needed a touch up. Well out comes the 204 and the white stones set at 30 degrees for a quick touch up. No such luck. After trying a couple different combinations of stones and...

Ok, how do you clean your gutters?

So we got a pretty good rain storm today and I discovered much to my dismay that water was coarsing over the gutters and down the side of the house. When the weather cleared up I pulled out the ladder, and, while clearing the muck I began to wonder how other people do this chore. I like to put a lad...

I think that a variable angle sharpener from spyderco would be cool. Before someone says the 204 already is I mean something which could go all the way from 0 to 90 degrees. It could even be one sided (to avoid trying to match up two sides) with or with out a rotating base perhaps. Or it could be a ...

Canon really makes great point and shoot digitals, good hardware and software. They give really good pictures for the price and are very easy to use. I have a SD450 which did really well on a trip to London, outdoor scenic shots to indoors in pubs or parties. You could find a better model from a dif...

Civilian, if you have any friends with the same cameras you're looking at I recommend borrowing and try the camera for a day or two. What brand of lenses you already own can make a big difference unless they are not particularly good or you really want to move to something else, I get the feeling yo...

If I understand what you are doing right you only want to sharpen the front of each tooth, sort of like a lot of tiny chisel blades. I am not familiar with diamond saw blades for woodworking but I’d expect that like most diamond edged tools they can't be sharpened, at least not with a ceramic sharpe...

Blade-Tech Knives

I'm wondering, dollar for dollar, how do Blade-Tech knives compare to Spyderco? The designs look interesting, how does the fit and finish compare to Spyderco? If a friend of yours was looking at the Mouse would you advise him to get it or to look for something else?

I think it was going to be similar in design to the Boye sailing knives. Until Spyderco releases one, it is probably the best folding sailing knife around. Dendritic Cobalt blades are just cool :D

Maybe we should just socialize the oil industry, then the government could produce gas and tell us how much to pay... Of course then we would still have to buy oil from companies in other countries, the government could buy for us too with our taxes to keep prices at the pump down... ya the gas line...

Gfeller Casemakers produce the CRK pouches. All of their stuff is very nice, much better made than the William Henry pouches, but a good deal pricier. They make alot of old fasion heavy leather field cases, rock hammer holsters and so on for geologists (though the ones I know can't afford Gfeller st...

There might be room in the Byrd line up for a decent wine opener. It seems to be the place for interesting tool ideas like the harp (a very old multi-tool design actually) and the Fire Byrd. I can picture something with a blade of similar size to the firebyrd but made to be a foil cutter. The materi...

I think that Dicks Sporting Goods carries a couple models (delica II and enduraII) but at msrp, Galyans (who Dicks bought) carried more and sold them at similar prices to New Graham Knives. There used to be a store called Chesapeake Knife and Tool but they just went out business, they were msrp also...

A window punch doesn’t need to strike the window, all it needs to do is exert pressure on a very small bit of the glass. In fact just pressing on the glass is better than hitting it. The point of a window breaker just concentrates the force you’re applying so that it is many, many psi. You push on t...

I second the file sharpening tip, it seems much easier to pull out a file and put a new edge on fast than mess with a stone or sand paper. Its not really meant to be a detail cutting tool so quick and easy is nice. That’s not to say it has to be a cheap edge but it doesn’t have to be fancy to work w...

Will there be different color D4s?

The title says it all. Are there plans for delicas with non black scales? I really like the blue-grey on the ZDP models. I can understand not using those again to maintain the exclusivity of the ZDP scales but a darker blue or something else would be neat. I have a bright green mini griptilian I bou...
