I thought of doing the same thing once. The problem is in the properties of the stainless steel. It makes it pretty expensive to do for a single application, or even several. https://ecommerce.epi.com/cgi-bin/Commerce.exe?preadd=action&key=IB-SS3701 This site seemed to have the best treatment fo...

No question in my mind. Chinook II, hands down. The TP Lil' T. is really handy though.

Chinook II. Great for utility and MBC. Great with gloves too. And you can't beat that lock strength. One of the best blade steels for a folder, it is a bit to reflective though.

My thanks to all who chimed in to help me out with this. I'll try what was suggested, but looking at it closer I see that the pin that the back of the blade locks up against is moving too. I think I'll try to find some torx screwdivers that small and tighten down that pin. I've sent one of these bac...

Thanks Chad. The play on one is almost not noticable, but you can see the blade move on the other two. It's verticle, not side to side. I'll watch for more replies before I send them in. I'd hate to loose them, they would be a bear to replace. But if they aren't safe then sending them in is the only...

Lil' Temp blade play problem

I read on another thread of a Li'l Temp that went back to Spyderco due to some blade play. Spyderco deamed the lock unsafe on the Lil' temp. I have three Rhino Lil' emps and all have some play in the blade. Should I be concerned with the locks failing ,or should I accept the Li'l Temp for the sweet ...

Thanks for the supportive words spydutch, VultureParade, CopilotATS-55 I've posted information on this on seven different forums, including bladeforums. I've been contacted by others that are in the same situation with Mike as I am. Just goes to show that you should do a little research before you j...

Perils of the Persian

I know I'm not the first to loose a Persian, Eh Chad. The first week of September, after seeing this web site: http://www.solisearch.net/ims/album.php?u_id=11165k5MDt , I mailed Mike MacIntosh a new Spyderco Persian and payment for him to modify the handle scales. After a few months of apparently av...

I still have a Persian coming with G10 scales ( I hope). If it ever arrives, new eta on shipping it to me is Wednesday. I'm having the modification done by a knife maker in Florida and there have been a few interruptions in his normal day to day. I will definately post the results. Now that I've bee...

I couldn't agree more, the Persian is perfect..er except. Most of us have certain preferances we look for in a knife. One of mine is G10 scales for MBC use. I have, or have had, Emersons and Striders and just grew accustomed to a handle that gives you really good purchase. I have also traded off or ...
